pouty at the park.

this happened a few weekends ago (during my blogging hiatus).
basically, sk chose a ham & cheese to take for her picnic lunch but when we got there she decided she wanted pb&j.  she had a full-blown temper tantrum about it.  it actually ended up ruining our whole trip to the park because she never was able to get over it so we had to go home pretty soon after we ate.

i probably made it worse by taking pics but i need evidence of days like this.  when sk is grown and having issues with her drama queen little 3 year old daughter then i'll just email her with a link to this particular blog post.

finally, trey just put her away from our picnic in "time out" where she threw this little tantrum.

we kind of just pretended like we didn't know her.  don't feel sorry for her....she was acting like a first class brat.  BUT look at how cute she is with her little long curly pigtails=)  hayes enjoyed herself very much - she was just getting stable in the sitting position at this point.

me and my precious girls....hahahaa!  ahhhh...real life!!

and the thing about it is that she prefers a ham & cheese over pb&j.  but i think that is only true when i'm making the sandwich.  note to self - sk does not want anything other than a pb&j from atlanta bread.  it is "SO yucky."  somehow she knows it is "SO yucky" without even tasting it.  i guess it looks "weird."  she's 3 and we love her in spite of that fact!

beau beau has come a long way with kids!!!  he would have growled about the fur pulling a few years ago, but he has accepted his role as big brother and lets hayes enjoy his fur.  hayes LOVES him - he cracks her up!

meanwhile.....

so we left.  and back at home sk went to her room for much needed quiet time and trey entertained himself all afternoon by trying to see how many rings he could balance on hayes' head (and for how long)....

hayes says, "yay, dad, you are so awesome!!"

trey's mom gave me a book called "bringing up girls" by dr. dobson.  i finally started it last night and read the first chapter.  i think it's going to be such a great book for me to read!! i'm excited about it.

a characteristic of the normal child is he doesn't act that way very often. ~Author Unknown

7 months!

happy 7 months to sweet baby hayes!  time is flying!!

during your 7th month you have:
*mastered sitting up all alone
*eaten lots of new food.  your favorite is apple butternut squash.  today you had corn & butternut squash which you gobbled up.  think squash is your fav veggie.  you eat any fruit pretty well.  bananas are not your favorite but you will eat them.
*moved to mostly formula with a few breast milk bottles few & far between.
*moved from sensitive formula to earth's best organic formula.  we never were able to move your sis off of the ever so expensive allementum so this is really something!
*stained more clothes with your messy eating, messy diapers, messy drool and messy spit up.  you are a complete mess!
*laughed and laughed and laughed.
*been rocked to sleep in the church nursery.
*mastered taking your paci in and out of your mouth.
*become completely fascinated with both our animals.  you've pulled beau's fur and he took it well.  you tried to do the same to bella but luckily i caught your hand just in time.  your hand would be a perfect snack for bella so watch out sister!
*spent a whole weekend without mommy!!  i went on our women's retreat with our church this past weekend in pawley's island and you stayed home with your daddy & sis.  you did great!  you love him so much!  sk is pure entertainment for you.  y'all played at home, napped well, went to lowe's twice, went out for lunch, went to publix, watched some movies and other than that....y'all missed me of course!! ;)
*you like me to hold you so much, but you do play well in your "stations" for short periods of time.
*you do well in your carseat now.
*took your first trip to blowing rock.  did great!
*mixed in with your baby jibber jabber you are starting to make sounds like "da da da." your dad thinks you are talking to him.  maybe you are - sk says you are.  i have my doubts.

we LOVE mary hazel lucy!!!!  you are really special, beautiful and wonderful, haysie may.  we are all very happy that you are ours (sk loves you so!)

hayes likes to eat her toes....

sister pics....
i caught sk holding hayes' hand.  probably made hayes' day!
swinging together today in this beautiful weather!!
snuggling in blowing rock
happy 7 months, sweet girl.

*update - also, happy birthday to jon-jons!!  glad we got to eat dinner with you last night.  sk's favorite part about mondays is seeing jon-jons car in our drive way as we get home from dance.  "is he here??  is jon-jons here??  will we have pizza???? is he here, is that his car????"
i couldn't remember how old i was the other day when one of my friends (aka - publix cashier) asked so who knows about his age.  ha!  no, i'll be 34 in august which makes him...yikes....36 today...yikes, seriously how did this all happen!!??

the lucy's lately.

i obviously have fallen behind on documenting our days.  got busy i guess.  but there are things that i never want to forget so i'm going to do a little recap of our recent days (weeks really)!

we took our 5th MLK weekend trip to blowing rock, nc.  it was sk's 4th blowing rock trip.  it was h's first!!  and it was also the first time that we asked people to join us.  what better friends to plan a trip with than our favorite family - the kriner's!  we all had a blast.  j & a went to college up there so they took the twins off to do their own thing some.  we all went ice skating together, lunching together, sledding together, played in the snow together and of course the girls just enjoyed playing in the house together.  we had plenty of snow on the ground, very cool temps, and plenty of sunshine in the sky.

the kriner family with the snowman.  jk later decapitated the snowman with his boot.  luckily sk did not see this disturbing action take place.  she thinks the snowman's head melted. ha!

little hayes just went along with everything we did!  sweet little snow baby=)

falling asleep while being in charge of the baby is acceptable behavior when the "baby" is the 4th born.  see...she's fine.  other acceptable behavior for the 4th baby in a family...1)not using highchair covers 2)reusing bath towels 3)letting baby wear stained clothes 4)letting baby play on the floor while the older children are dancing & playing and having to jump over baby to get through the living room 5)not having baby back in her crib for scheduled naps 6)forgetting to feed the baby solids and 7) using tap water to make bottles instead of using nursery water every time (sk NEVER had a drop of tap water...haahahaa!)

sledding! sk had already gotten off but these 3 enjoyed sledding so much!

cousins!  where's hayes??

here i am!  nevermind that it's cold in here - go ahead and get the pic.
sledding snow sisters!!

haysie loves auntie ash!
ready to ice skate!!
ava & bryce were pros!  by the middle of their 2 hour time slot, ava was skating without the walker.  bryce could go fast and felt good using it (i would have needed one, thank God for hayes - we watched from the side!)
i'm sorry if this picture gives the impression that sk enjoyed her time ice skating because she did not.  she hated every single minute that she spent on the ice. she was so afraid of falling that she didn't even try really.  she cried.  am i surprised - absolutely not.  please meet miss overly cautious.  sk has had the same cautious personality since before she was born.  she was nearly inactive in the womb - never passed a kick count.  she was very weary about leaving her cozy home in my belly and arrived a day past my due date.  she never ever fell while learning to walk - she would just very slowly ease herself down until she was safe on the ground.  she never tried to climb out of her crib.  she never climbed on anything actually.  she does not run fast.  she cannot do somersaults without alot of assistance.  she does not use the pedals on the tricycle because she prefers her feet to be firmly planted on the ground.  at a very young age she began telling trey, "be careful daddy" anytime she saw him climb a ladder to do household chores.  she does not really jump in her jump house - just skips around.  she does not put herself in any situation where she does not feel 100% in control of her body.  luckily, rides are fine - like any disney world ride & sledding.  ice skating is obviously not fine.  we tried - we did not succeed - we will try again next year!  i'm sorry that she is fearful but at the very same time i'm glad she's cautious.  maybe she'll always proceed with some caution!  she told me on the way to school this morning, "mommy, i'm not old enough to drive yet."  i said, "no you are not.  when you are 15 you can drive with my help and then at 16 you can drive all by yourself."  she thought about that and then said, "you mean, i'll sit in your lap?"  i nearly spewed coffee because it tickled me so.  seriously, if her personality stays the same she probably will want to just sit in my lap at 15 while i show her exactly how to drive.  i got tickled picturing us driving around town like that!
catch a nap where you can, sister!

making & eating smores

oh here is an appropriate ice skating pic.  this is how we felt.
walking around downtown br after lunch.  sk looks annoyed.
 just playing around downtown!

beau beau dog was there as usual.  little buddy had his winter coat on but has an appointment for a haircut this coming friday.
the 3 girls put on a magnificent show for us.  lots of singing and dancing - i have a pretty funny video that i'll try to upload but it probably won't work.  don't know why i'm not able to do that on here!
meeting up for one last meal near charlotte before parting ways.  sweet cousins=)
and just to compare, this is sarah kate on her first trip to blowing rock:
trey and sarah kate (sarah kate 6 months)
& wearing the same cold weather gear:
hayes - 6 months

and another.....

sk in her little snow suit...

sarah kate 2010
hayes 2013
and finally, our annual boot pic...

so i guess this post ended up being just about blowing rock.  i took about 400 pics so i guess it deserved a post of it's own.  half of those were taken while holding a baby who was trying to eat my camera so i just had to snap away not really knowing what i was taking a pic of.

more posts to come about our last few weeks.  and i have a really funny little lady turning 7 months on wednesday!!  will post her monthly pic on that day.  can't believe it!
