cute cow things....and not-so-cute things.

alot of sk's clothes come from her big cousins. i think it's so fun to see her wear things that i loved seeing the girls in. on saturday, sk wore the cow jumper that the twins wore for their 3rd bday party. i think i helped pick it out? sad i can't remember exactly but i think i remember being with ash over in st.simons at bailey boys when she got these bday jumpers. anyway, on saturday sarah kate helped trey pick up the sticks in the yard since irene caused quite a wind-storm on friday. then we just played outside for a while. sk wants to play outside ALOT but it's still so darn hot.

anyway, i thought i'd post some pics of her wearing her cow jumper. i'm very frustrated right now because sk has a favorite word and that word is NO! and lately, she says it so ugly. "NO MAMA NO"! ALOT! she has said alot of really funny and cute things lately too but the ugly really overpowers the cute so i can't even think of anything cute to share. sarah kate - you are wearing your mama out! tues & thurs playschool starts in 1 week, gymnastics starts back too, and we will be going to story time at the library on wednesdays. hopefully this all will help things alot. sk loves people. she loves school. she loves routine and schedules. and she's in her highchair right now yelling for her dad..."TREY!!!TREY!!!HEY TREY!!!" and just like that...she's pretty darn cute again;)

ava and bryce. they had a farm themed 3rd bday party at my parent's house. the kids could go on pony rides. in this pic, they are really studying those ponies and watching an older friend - "big emma" - take her turn. =)

and now sk gets to enjoy the cow cuteness!

she can't climb the rock wall all the way up by herself. she gets a little nervous and says, "oh gosh, sarah kate need help." that's pretty cute=) she's getting there though.

right this second trey is upstairs about to give sk a bath. she often sits on her frog potty before bath time and she just went potty!!! this is the second time. she went for me a few nights ago. i've got to pencil in a "potty training" week in the near future. i don't want to push the issue. i was going to wait until after we go to disney in december, but maybe she'll be ready before then. we'll see. either way....twice in the froggy potty...that's awesome sk. maybe at the end of the day the cuteness does overpower the ugly....hmmmm......

family pics.

dana put our kriner family slideshow up today. thought i'd share on here. dana is one talented photographer! if you had been a bystander watching the whole thing go down then you'd probably guess that there wouldn't be one single good group shot (because of a certain 2 year old who is a big mess!) but, she got several! some great individual family shots, too. and the pics of mimi & papa with the 3 girls are perfect. the winning shot (in my opinion) goes to one of ava. no surprise there. she always walks away with that award (again, in my opinion). i didn't think that would be the case this year because she was being a silly bug and giving some goofy smiles, but then dana 'caught' her...looking up at the sky like an angel. sk's pics are pretty classic....she is a girl of many expressions!

thanks, dana!

and in other news.....
also, we ended up not having to leave town. irene looks like she's going to tear up the east coast north of us. i am praying for all of those people, their homes, their animals....i sure hope they evacuate! they are certainly being urged to do so, but some people think they're prepared. risky. we'll see. still hoping she turns and dies.

sk woke up sick wednesday morning but is doing much better. with the weather like it is we have been staying inside all day today. trey came home before lunch and we're just having a cozy family day at home. we're watching beauty and the beast right now. gotta love disney movies!

watching beauty and the beast...so into it. sk loves princess "beeele". (ha...that accent).

but then the dinner scene comes on and the girl can't get out of her chair fast enough to get busy dancing. i will be shocked if she doesn't just love dance when she's old enough to take lessons.
be....our.....guest, be our guest....

the finale of the dinner scene is her favorite...she threw her hands up and sang, "BE OUR GUESSSST!!!"

and i just had to pause the movie because belle just turned into a princess and sk HAD to go upstairs and put on her belle dress. she's so excited. i said, "aww...look at princess belle, she's so pretty." and sarah kate said, "sarah kate pretty, too?" ha!

hoping for a calm weekend. high tide isn't for another 30 minutes and yet the marsh is already full of water so it should be interesting to see what happens.

irene.

to evacuate or not to evacuate....that is the question.

http://www.accuweather.com/blogs/news/story/54098/hurricane-irene-to-slam-into-t.asp

hmmm....we're just waiting to see what we should do. we're hoping it just keeps heading north, misses us and dies out at sea somewhere.

in the meantime, we'll just discover different places to hide. like, in between the crib and the wall....

also, in case you didn't know....all you have to do is cover your eyes and you completely disappear...no one can see you or find you - even a hurricane.

see...i don't see anybody, do you?

i see a dog in the background of the pic above. and a chair....but that's about it!

so, i think we'll either head down to folkston, hunker down here and hope for the best, or just cover our eyes all day saturday. the latter appears to be the easiest solution.

hope that it turns out to be a weaker storm than they are forecasting and that all our homes and families stay unharmed!

new beginnings.

today was the first day of the new "school year" for our sunday school classes. i am teaching the older 3 year olds. although i will be in there every sunday, i am team-teaching with an awesome girl who will be rotating teacher/assistant responsibilities with me. i taught this week while she assisted, next week we'll switch and so forth. our class was precious and i know we're going to really enjoy them. i have a couple of sundays this fall that i lined subs up for since we'll be out of town. trey will teach with me when my co-teacher needs to miss and when this happens we will send sarah kate to the younger 2 class. but when he is not needed he'll just stay home with sarah kate and they'll meet me for church at 11:15 (well, he'll put her in the nursery and then meet me at church.) so today i left early since it was the first day so i didn't get to see sarah kate before i left. i must say, trey gets an A+ in getting his girl and himself ready for church! he even got her curls combed and tidied and stuck a great big pink bow in just the right spot. he told me later that he could probably give me lessons on how to comb her hair without any of the screaming. ha!

i didn't take any pics of cutie pie sk today. but we went out to sullivan's to eat at our fav bbq place friday night and trey took some pics when we returned. sk loves hometeam bbq! we stopped at the icecream shop next door while we were walking back to our car (like i said in my last post, we're still on vacation....eating at the beach and getting icecream...it was heavenly). sk and i split a scoop of vanilla. trey got pistachio icecream. i've always loved pistachios but have never tried the icecream.....what a treat! i wished i had gotten my own scoop of that yummy goodness....i think trey wished i had gotten my own scoop too;)

today before i put lunch on the table i asked sk to pick up all her dr. kit toys and put them back in her dr.bag and she told me "NO!! NO PUT IT BACK" over and over, she threw her stethoscope and was just very ugly about the whole thing. she had to go to timeout to "cool off." off course she told me "NO COOL OFF" but still she sat, she never gets out of her timeout chair until i get her.....think she'd sit in that chair until she graduated highschool if i never went back...ha! so finally after many refusals, i decided to call for reinforcement....daddy. trey said in a firm voice, "sarah kate, you need to listen to mommy and pick up your toys and put them back in the bag." she says, "ok daddy" and picks up the darn toys and puts them away and we proceeded to have a very nice lunch together. what the heck is up with that?!!! i'm pleasant darn it! i asked her nicely (at first). trey reminded me that it's different when the constant disciplinarian & caretaker (me) asked her to do something versus the fun-loving-voice of reason (him). i guess he's right. my mom could have nagged away when i was younger but when my dad got involved then it was done. anyway, it's all part of it! i thought it was very nice and effective for him to say, "listen to mommy." sk needs to know that we're a team and have the same expectations.

sarah kate is ready for her new school year to begin! she told me today, "go church, go schoooool? see alden?" she goes to "school" at our church and sees alden at both church & school so she's just thinking about it all. she really enjoys it all and i'm looking forward to meeting her new teacher soon! that's another post for another day. she'll start back soon enough and we're still on "vacation" remember? ha!

still on vacation......

well, we aren't really still on vacation. we're back home and trey is back at work, but sarah kate and i have been pretending like we're still on vacation.

except for thursday, we have spent every day this week at either the beach or the pool.

sarah kate has mourned the end of our family vacation. i know it's not as fun to go to the beach with JUST mommy, but she always has a really good time. she's even gotten herself a little tan even though i'm psycho about spf. who knew?! she wears 60 (caked) on her face and even still she has continued to gain new freckles right under her eyes. love those little guys=)

today we swam alot in the tidal pool - which was the size of a lake today=) i was so upset that i missed getting pics of this, but a "family" of dolphin stopped right in front of us and put on quite a show! it was amazing and sk was so excited! she said, "see dolphin? i see 'em!" then she tried to go swim with them...ha! they were playing and one of them dipped his nose under and put his tail up in the air and waved it back and forth....looked like he was waving at us. they were swimming along side a few girls who were paddle boarding. it was quite a sight!

on wednesday we were at the beach and a kite-surfer was surfing in the tidal pool. sarah kate loves the kites and we had already spotted it and talked about it. later, while we were digging he surfed down right in front of us and his kite was swooping down really fast and nearly touching down before he surfed off. this worried sk (and me....i wish they'd just stay in the ocean and not in the tidal pool because i'm always scared they're going to land that big kite right on us on accident, but whatever....i don't own the tidal pool). so she ran to edge of the water and starting yelling at him, "BE CAREFUL, KITE, BE CAREFUL!!!!" it was really funny. he couldn't hear...it was very windy that day. my cautious child worries alot about everyone being careful (including herself..."be careful, sarah kate!"). she gets all upset when trey has to use the kitchen stool to reach the lights or what-not....she says, "be careful, dad, be careful!!!"

sk has gotten to see her bff, alden, a couple of times this week which she enjoyed. alden's family was on vacation the week before we went on our family vacation so it had been a while! alden stayed with us for a little while tuesday morning while amy had an appointment. the girls played so well together and had a great time=)

last night was our monthly super club. blair & summer hosted this time so our sitter kept alden and sk over here at our house so we could all go. we've done this the last few months and it works out really well. we just set up the pack-n-play so that charlene can get both the girls down. sk always "helps" charlene put alden to bed first because her bedtime is a little earlier than sk's. so this means sk SEES charlene put alden in that pack-n-play....it's no wonder that she's completely confused in the mornings when she runs in to the guest room and there's no alden in that bed. she looks at me like, "i could have sworn that's where we put her?!" ha! she said, "alden go night night" when we checked the pack -n-play this morning. so funny.

the girls start playschool on september 6th so i think sk and i will continue to be on "vacation" until then!

"but you came along with a raft and a song and i'm so glad you could make it. with you by my side i might get back alive from my next vacation. i didn't see you were right next to me but i'm so glad you could make it. with you by my side i might get back alive from my next vacation" -WSP

don't forget!!!! recent sk-isms

there are some things about sk as of late that i don't want to forget. if i don't "write" them down then i will most certainly forget. so i'm posting them here so they'll end up in her babybook.

skl: 2 years (july/aug)

* "where daddy is?"

* "watch your step, sarah kate!" (she said this recently when she was trying to walk in her new rain-boots...cracked me up!)

* sk always calls the "beach" the "geech." i told her the other day to say "ba ba ba ba beach." so she said, "ba ba ba ba geech!" ha! THEN she said "ba ba ba ba ba pool." too cute! i don't do this anymore as to not promote stuttering but i thought i'd give it a whirl to see if it would work. it obviously didn't.

*"no MA'AM!!!!" sk has started saying "NO" way too much but i've got her saying "no ma'am" instead, although the "ma'am" can come out quite harsh. sk can be one sassy girl and she takes about 99.9% of it out on me! probably because #1. she's a girl and i'm her mom and #2. i'm with her 24/7...she IS my job....and #3. she's two. we're working on it. parenting is a job that's for sure. she says "no sir" to trey but sometimes she'll forget and say "no ma'am" to him too.

*"papa cowboy!", "daddy stinky boy", "mama pretty girl", "sarah kate pretty girl." ha! i taught her all that. her dad didn't find it amusing at first but now he thinks it's really funny because she thinks it's so funny! sk has been all about gender for a few months now. she tells me who is a boy and who is a girl. "beau-beau boy, bella girl" etc. or if there is a little boy in a book she'll say, "dat boy".

*sk loves to practice her swimming skills in the bath tub. "go under" is all we hear once she's in there and she seriously spends the majority of her bath time on her tummy putting her head under water. too funny.

*sk talks about herself in the third person. she says things like, "sarah kate do it", "sarah kate sad", "sarah kate play", unless she's talking in terms of ownership such as "kate's chair", "kate's shirt", "kate's boo-boo" in which case she usually uses...well, "kate."

*she has her mama's country accent! or mimi would say "southern accent." whatever...alot of people are southern and don't sound like me...i'm country (not red-neck, but country).....sk, we will discuss all this later. "fliers riiiiiight dare" (flowers right there). lots of things are "riiiight dare."

*"kate go under", "mama go under", "GO GEECH!!!" - i hear that everyday, "mama STOP" (hear that WAY too much), "kate's piggy TAILS" , "hi beau-beau", "be riiiight back beau-beau", i choo mama (i love you mama)", "bless you mama!" or "bless you sarah kate" (when we sneeze), "oh NO!!! froggy sad!!" (when kermit is sad on one of her favortie sesame movies). "gol-ish pease" (gold fish please), "payer gox" (prayer box...in the car she likes to hold the prayer box that she made at VBS and she'll yell her family member's names into the box while we ride.) "daddy take shower", "daddy work", "cow work" (kyle work), "see ashley", "see jon-jons", "see avabyce", "go backyard PLAY PEASE!!", "good job buddy (to beau)", "move beau-beau", "where are you bella?", "elmo LOOOVVVES you", "mama funny", "daddy funny", "dat funny."

*"i'm coming guys!!!" she says this when she is on her way into the room we are in.... when she's leaving she says, "bye guys!" (except for she doesn't say "coming" she says "poming").

*"where sarah kate?" sarah kate hides and says this...she loves playing hide and go seek.

*sk can belt out the songs "deep and wide" and "jesus loves me." it's pretty hysterical...must try to capture that on video. she also belts out the "abc song" and yells complete jibberish for the LMNO part and then nails the "P" very loud and proud....it's also hysterical=)

*watch tangled pease?" (ava and bryce have taught her all about the disney movies and she is hooked!)

* and finally, one of her funniest sayings as of late, "OH SNAP!!!" i didn't know where she got that from but i've been told that it's from ME so i guess i do say it! ha! anyway, she uses it appropriately which makes it even more funny (like if she drops something or whatnot).

those are some things i don't want to forget! also, as of the last week or so, sarah kate has been a complete mama's girl! trey always puts her to bed but at the beach she wanted me to do it. she'd push on his shoulder and say, "bye dad" to make sure i was the one to put her down. it doesn't hurt his feelings. it sure does make my heart feel good though because she was starting to act really ugly to me lately...even the first couple of days at the beach. she's had a change of heart and decided that she DOES actually love me;) trey had a little talk with her about it....maybe she actually understood...ha!

a post with no pics is no fun even though i'm sure the people who glance at my blog from time to time stopped reading this post a few hundred words ago. which is perfectly fine....this is for my memory and for sk to read later....she'll find her younger self pretty funny i'm sure=) so here are some pics from today....
