one.

the big day has come and gone.  hayes is one!  yesterday was a great day!  she had a good morning, took a 3 hour afternoon nap and then had a nice dinner with a few friends and her mimi & papa.  

sk's friend caroline shares a birthday with hayes and had her princess party that morning.  sk chose to go as merida.

she loved her smash cake!  she wasn't quite sure what to do with it at first but she ended up tearing it up pretty good and had quite a few bites.  

she's such a cutie!!!

sk, alden and ila gray had a tea party while waiting for their dinner....

trey made a low country boil and then we had cake & cookies...

we asked the sailor's and the murrell's to come have dinner with us and i'm so glad they were able to make it.  and "aunt" lauren came!  

mimi & papa drove back after dinner but they did spend friday night in mt. pleasant which was so fun!  

we will celebrate with ashley, jon-jon and the twins next weekend and then with trey's parents the next weekend.  so as summer birthdays usually go....we'll just keep celebrating! 

so, mary hazel lucy, you are one!  i can't even stand it.  you just flew through the first 12 months so terribly fast...how about you slow it down from here on out!  you are BUSY!  and so completely precious and fun.  you are coy and smart and cuddly and BUSY!  

i don't know your stats.  your 12 month appointment will be later in july - i'll record them after that.

some newish things...

*you are beginning to drop your bottles on your own.  you drain your morning bottle and all the others are a little if-y.  you definitely don't want a bed time bottle anymore.  i have been putting whole milk in your morning bottle with your formula and you drink it, but you don't want a sippy cup of just milk quite yet.

*you are still a good eater!  you eat whatever we give you just about.  you don't love blueberries or peas.  you loved your birthday dinner - sausage, corn, potatoes, fruit and cheese....i have not given you shellfish yet so you didn't get any shrimp.

*you have no fear of the pool or ocean - just like your sister was (& still is!)  i truly have water babies.

here you go, just crawling into the ocean.  do you think you have gills?  sk wishes so much that she did (she says).

*you only have 4 teeth.  you are teething and you are grumpy about it!  you crawl around the house whining all morning wanting me to hold you.  getting out and about & having people over to play helps distract you.

*you used to be all shy and grumpy when people paid attention to you but now you like to see & be seen!  you like men alot.  great.

*you are obsessed with your daddy.  big time.

you test us already.  you like to pinch, pull hair, grab at sk's hair & face....you look at me before you do it.  you say, "no-no" and shake your head back and forth.  you have also already thrown tantrums when you don't get what you want.  on the floor, kicking, screaming.  

your saving grace....you're so darn cute.....

i adore you, hayes!  we all do.  we thank God for giving us YOU and wouldn't change a single thing about you.  you are wonderfully made and we love you!

a year ago...

yesterday was a year since my dr. told me to get ready to meet our little lady a few weeks early.....

ONE YEAR AGO

so...it's hayes' birth week and we've been celebrating - not really, same ole stuff...pool, pool, playing with friends, pool.  and taking pics in various birthday outfits.  

i can't believe she's going to be one on saturday.  where in the world did this past year go!?  she sure has grown & changed & been such a precious and lively addition to our family.  

she'll eat her cake on saturday evening!  i know sk is turning 4 next saturday, but it really seems like just yesterday that she was digging into her first cake.  (and that's literally all she did.  took sk about 3 years to decide she likes sweet stuff - and she certainly does!) 

i'll never forget funny little sk with her first birthday cake.  she was fascinated with that fish on top!

i know there are a few people who read this blog who will have NO doubt as to whose sweet little paw is sneaking the sugar dots off sk's cake in this next picture.  sweet sweet brycie and her sweet sweet tooth.  a girl after my own heart!  unlike her sister and her little cousin, she has never been confused about whether or not she is a fan of the sweet stuff!  

those pics are from her first birthday party.  her actual birthday was a few days before her party and i made her a smash cake.  she was NOT a fan of it......

haha!  she was so ticked.

whew!  i think the countdown to our annual kriner family beach vacay 2013 is ON!  and this year...we're back in charleston...IOP...whoop!

a busted lip (& just some other random stuff)

whew...we are busy!  so much for a relaxing summer!  vbs is going on right now.  i am a teacher, sk is participating and hayes has already managed to bully one little boy in the nursery to the point where they had to move him to a different nursery today.  that hayes.....wowsa!  she's also the reason i haven't blogged much!  when she's awake, i'm busy watching every move she makes.  and when she is asleep then i am doing all the things that i no longer can get done while she is awake!  (or maybe i'm just sitting and resting?)  in the past week i have caught her TWICE playing in the potty WHILE sarah kate is using said potty.  sooooo.......

could the girls be any different?  no.  unfortunately though, my little overly cautious sarah kate took a really hard spill down the steps of our neighborhood pool house and landed on her face on a rocky sidewalk.  praise God she did not break her neck!  her mouth took the brunt of the fall and she didn't even loose one single tooth!  there was alot of blood and her lip is busted up pretty good, but other than that she is doing great!  she wasn't even sore today - ate fine, loved vbs, slept well last night, etc.  still, this is blog worthy for my memory at least - not her very first busted lip, but her worst one so far.  when she was 11 months old she fell face first out of our jogging stroller and busted her lip, but not quite this bad.

 oh she was so upset!  she had me hold her for such a long time once we got back home.  she cried and cried.  she said, "mama, we usually go down the ramp!"  and i said, "i know but we were trying to hurry because of the rain and the steps are closer to our car.  next time we'll take the ramp."  she said, "no, not next time, every time!!!"  i bet she'll never go down those steps again!  

and today it had gone down SO much!  it still looks real bad up under her upper lip but she's not in pain.

 trey was there when it happened.  he threw her in his car and came straight home with her.  i think we both assumed she had chipped teeth, missing teeth or loose teeth at least!
in other news, she's swimming like a fish! 

anyway, tonight was lasagna night....

at least she only had on a diaper.

after he got home from work, trey laid sk on her bed and did a mouth check.  i thought it was so funny how hard hayes was trying to get in on the action!  little bug was up on her tippy toes trying to see what was going on!

hayes will be one next saturday!!!  i can't even believe it!  i love her so much=)

hayes has a new word...."uh oh!"  she says it a lot.  

last saturday we went to the beach with some friends.  hayes eats the sand but instead of shoveling it in her mouth with her hands she just bends down like a dog and eats it straight off the beach with her mouth.  should have gotten a pic of that!

sarah kate and her friend, caroline, just swam and swam in the tidal pool...

and their little sisters took nice long beach naps....

the good thing about having a kid with so much energy is that they sleep as hard as they play!!!  baby girl has taken 3 hour naps every single day so far this week once we get home from bible school!
