weekend recap.

with the exception of a fun friday night birthday dinner downtown, it was just a lucy family weekend!

sat morning tea party

sk always chooses the pink cup.  mousie gets a cup all for himself.  the toy story gang has to share=)

trey and i worked all day saturday in the yard getting all the spring/summer toys cleaned up (sk was glad to see us pull out her giraffe pool!) she jumped in her jump house and we also got our strollers, wagon and beach & bubble toys washed and cleaned.  much needed cleaning day.

sunday lunch at hometeam bbq before a trip to costco.....kiss, kiss=)

"i want a bbq samwich," she said.  pork pork pork.....her favorite meat.

little lovebug=)

i don't think i ever used one of these parking spots when i was pregnant with sk.  but i did it today.  hayes and i went to target and the pig while trey and sk swept limbs into a pile....

a couple of funny things sk said this weekend:
on the way to eat lunch: "i don't need a highchair.  that would make me upset."  (ha....she usually always lets us know in PLENTY of time that she isn't interested in sitting in a highchair.)

"did you know that Jesus died for us ALL?????!!"

to the sales lady at havertys: "i just fluffed in my big girl panties!"  (awesome).

"this dress is the comfy cozy kind."

after i called her "sweet pea" :  "i NOT sweet pea.  i just sarah kate!!!"

and the fascination with my brother continues:
me during bedtime: "who do you want to thank God for?"  sk: "jon-jons." (and that was it.)

trey during sat. morning tea party: "sk, who gave you eggy (the elephant)?"  sk: "jon-jons."(as if my brother went into a baby boutique and picked out that pink elephant.  sometimes she'll add that it also came from ash, ava and bryce, but most of the time it just came from jon-jon).

sk (randomly throughout the day):  "what jon-jon doin today?"

sk: "jon jons in st. mary.  we saw him in barberritos.  can we go to barberritos?!"

sk in the car with trey: "oh snappin' turtle!  jon-jon say that.  that what jon-jons always say oh snappin' turtle."

she'll get her jon-jon fix this weekend, thankfully.

beach hour, snakes, and sunroom status.

sk and i went to the beach for about an hour today.  i didn't realize it was going to be SO windy so we just ate lunch, she played for a while and then we came back home.

so prissy....

sk loves our beach days.  she loves the tidal pool!

sk walks from the car to the beach with me now.  we take the bob stroller still, but i use it to get our bags, cooler and toys out to the beach.  we always go to sullivans and no matter where you park, each station has a long path that you walk down to get to the beach.  i have had snakes cross my path before and for some reason today while we were walking down the path i just thought to myself, "gosh, it's a hot sunny day and lots of bushes on either side of this path.  i hope we don't see a snake."  well, about 20 seconds after i had that thought i could see in the distance - maybe about 10 or 15 feet in front of us - the longest, thickest black snake EVER crossing the path.  i froze and told sk to stop walking and hold my hand.  i didn't tell her why and she couldn't see it.  the stroller was right in front of us so she doesn't have a good view at her height.  i waited for it to get to the other side, which it was so long that for a little while it's whole body spread the width of the path.  shivers.  then we walked again and i sped up when we got to his spot, although i knew it would be highly unlikely for him to turn around and re-cross.  i hate snakes.  i didn't want to scare sk though so i was calm about it even though it made my skin crawl.  wish i had taken a pic with my iphone - i was too frozen.  note to self - don't go to station 26.5 anytime soon.

the hardwoods for the sunroom were delivered today and he'll come back to install them on monday.  when the rest of the work is finished then he'll come stain them to match our existing hardwoods.  the french doors should go up monday, too, as well as the ceiling and trim/molding!  we are doing bead-board on the ceiling.

i just cannot find a good pic of our living room windows so this goofy pic (from last march) will have to do!  those were taken out.....

and now we have the big door way where the french doors will go...

below:  looking into the living room from the sunroom.  it will be nice to be able to leave the doors open OR close them off.  trey and i are looking for a queen sleeper sofa.  we found one that we like last night, but are still just looking until we make a definite decision.  i can imagine that sk's middle school sleepovers will take place in that room (doors closed!)  i can imagine that if sk and hayes are ever allowed to date that they may watch a movie in that room with their date (doors OPEN!)  you know, a rated "g" movie (maybe even a disney princess movie) with the boy from our church who is best known for his stellar academic performance in school and his commitment to church mission trips in third world countries.  that guy.

for now though, this room will house lots of toys, a dollhouse, perhaps the play kitchen, probably an exersaucer and the ole trusty "lamby infant swing" and such.

beach, then bath, then 15 minutes of dumbo, then nap....and she's still snoozing=)

trey is home early which is nice.  hayes's bookshelf that her lala and dougie bought her has arrived and he is going to set that up soon.  her new glider that her mimi and papa bought for her arrived yesterday, too and is already in it's little corner.  so nice to have parents who like to help us create wonderful nurseries!  i'll have to do a nursery update in the next couple of weeks.  think we'll have her room ready by the time she arrives;)

where is he shirt?

sk and i got behind this moped on our way home from school today.  sk said, "look at that silly man in the street. he took he shirt off, mama!" she cracks me up! very observant little rider i have back there. and she never says his.....only he.  "beau beau is sooo cute and tiny.  he tail is so fluffy!"  "dumbo has grey ears.  the inside of he ears is pink!"

hayes's night party has just started so i guess i'll go supervise that madness while trey and beau snore.  the construction has bella completely messed up - she's a nervous wreck and her fur is everywhere. or sk would say, "she fur is everywhere."  looks like bella only has another week to deal with it though.  they are way ahead of schedule.  yippeeee!

sleepy head.

well, miss hayes had a huge dance party at her "house" last night.  she partied from about 9:00pm until the wee hours of the morning with barely any breaks.  big party.  so, needless to say, even the cup of caffeinated coffee that i gave her this morning didn't wake her up for our sonogram.  so no good pics.  the tech tried everything to wake her up and get her moving so we could get her head in a good spot for a clear face-shot, but no luck.  i guess it doesn't matter - that's not why we were there, but the good news is, we'll get to see her again in about 4 weeks!  the (kinda) bad news is that we'll get to see her again in about  4 weeks.  ha.  my placenta is about .2 mm shy of where they want it to be to "clear" me.  so we'll check it again.  the tech said there was no doubt that by 4 weeks it will have moved .2 mm - such a tiny tiny ways left to go (they want it at 2mm from my cervix and mine is at 1.8mm right now).  and actually, as it is right now my dr. said she would still let me go through with a regular delivery and not worry with a c-section, but we're still going to take another peek at her and i'm pretty excited to see her again!  other than being fast asleep, she was just perfect.  her little organs are all doing exactly what they are supposed to be doing.  she weighs 2 pounds and 5 ounces which is right on target.  i have plenty of amniotic fluid which is always great.  trey and i were so excited to see her, hear her little heartbeat, and are still amazed & feeling blessed to be carrying another healthy little girl.  oh, that's another thing we definitely confirmed today - it's for sure a girl=)

best shot (27.5 week profile):

cozy, cozy, cozy.  she's been snoozing all day.

here is a shot of her big sis at 20 weeks....

maybe we could see a resemblance if hayes had turned her head.  maybe she'll be awake for our next peek at her.  another good thing about having another ultra sound is that it's really the only way for them to know her true weight.  i like knowing that she's already 2 lbs 5 oz!
and although i hit a big growth spurt over the past week and feel like a cow, my weight is right on target too, which was nice to hear.  3 weeks from today i'll have my second glucose screening so back on my "no refined sugar" diet i go!  after lent ended i allowed myself a few little treats here and there, but the less processed foods and sugars the better off i'll be.
12.5 weeks to go!

girls work?

so, i had to have a talk with sarah kate about how both men AND women go to work. the other day she made a comment about how boys go to work and girls don't. gasp. then i thought about the women in her life who she is with on a regular basis (especially during the week).....moms that we play with during the day, mimi, ashley and me. yep...none of them work. and when we have a playdate with alden she'll say, "mr. kyle going to be there? no mr. kyle probably at work like daddy." and she talks about my brother alot! she says, "jon-jons in st. marys. he at work with papa." (see....men = work to her!) she has even said, "and ashley at home with ava and bryce." of course i told her that mommy used to leave the house to go to work but that right now i'm staying home to take care of her and her sister.
so i tried to think of a way to drive the point home. ding, ding, ding....aunt lauren. lauren is a cpa so not only does she work but she has been working ALOT lately. so this helped alot. she has visited her lala at work before but she was very little and wouldn't remember and now her lala is retired. she sees women working everyday (like our lovely publix check-out ladies!), but she's too young to think, "oh yeah, i know women work because i see women checking mama out of stores all the time." i needed to relate it to someone she knows well, so my lauren example worked and made it real. and one day soon she'll see me getting ready for work, just not right now.

sooooo.....all that said, our grocery store check out conversation with the check-out clerk was a little less embarrassing yesterday. if you read THIS post, then you know that she told the clerk and bag-man all about her potty habits the other day. well yesterday, she told the check out clerk these things, "beau beau is a brown dog. he so tiny! some girls work. lauren is at work." it's so funny to watch her try so hard to think of something good to say to strangers and i'm so glad that she came out with something about beau and working girls yesterday as opposed to "i'm wearing big girl panties and sometimes i get an m&m when i poo-poo" and such.

sarah kate is becoming a real challenge to dress each day. she only wants to wear a dress. and she's picky about her shoes. this is one of her favorite dresses and she asks to wear it all the time "i want the dress with the "s" on it and 2 crabs."

the other thing she wants to wear all the time is her new red flip flops. she and i had a full-on knock down drag out right there in the children's boutique over what shoes i would buy for her. she wanted the purple ones but the purple ones didn't have a back strap. she can't walk in flip flops very well so she needs the back! so we settled on the red pair although she can't wear them ALL the time like she wants because she wants to wear alot of pink and that's where i draw the line - we aren't wearing red flops with pink dresses. she also is picky about how i do her hair, she wants to wear her nice necklace each day, and she's particular about her nightgown each night. the battle shouldn't start this young. i'm kind of annoyed, but i try to just pick my battles.

we went to trey's rotary social tonight at the riverdogs baseball game. it was so rainy, but they have their baseball socials under a big tent with picnic tables so we went and ate and watched a little bit of the game. and by a little bit i mean about 2 innings. poor trey....both his girls have the attention span of a 2 year old so we were doing good to make it that long.

sarah kate ate 2 hotdogs at the game. she's such a pork girl!

beau and i drove through starbucks after dropping sk off at school this morning. i like to get a decaf every now and then (looking forward to my regular cup that i plan to drink on tuesday to get baby hayes dancing! we get to see her again!) the one we go to has a drive-thru and beau starts drooling as soon as we pull up to order. it really starts pouring out of his mouth when he spots the pick-up window and in his doggie mind i know he is saying, "please don't be out of treats, please don't be out of treats, i've got to have a treat." this is him looking, wishing, hoping...

he got his treat. he already felt like he'd had a perfect day and it was only 9:20.

our windows were installed today.

it's been fun watching the daily progression! can't wait for the finished product of course. ;)

construction begins.

it was demo day for our screen porch. day one of construction - we are on our way to having a sunroom/playroom.

we have always enjoyed our screen porch during the spring and summer months, but will really use the new room alot more & all year round!

our porch (last spring)......

our porch at the end of the day today.....

sweet girl wanted a braid today....

cheese!

a 26 week pic of me and baby hayes....

sarah kate and i went to the beach to escape all the hammering and drilling and such. it was a beautiful day! we had lunch and then she just played and played. she spent most of her time in the tidal pool. she probably ran 10 miles going back and forth from the tidal pool to my chair. we also went for a walk - we walked through the tidal pool and out to the actual ocean and back. we had a nice day together and she took a nice long nap - even slept through the construction which is great!

what is it with kids not caring about water temp?? crazy girl! the weather was perfect, but the water is still way too cold for me!

and i meant to add this pic in with our little vacation pics. my car was completely loaded down during our drive to amelia so when sk needed to tinkle i had to put her frog potty in my seat which she thought was the greatest thing EVER because she got to "drive" while going potty.

pretty funny.
