catch up.

another month of falling behind on documenting our happenings.  the girls keep me busy!

anyway, lately....

2 weekends ago i took sk to the saturday morning disney on ice performance.  it was a good one!!  she dressed as tinkerbelle, had her favorite popcorn snack and loved the show.

sk super hates having her pic taken - it's like a chore and her smile is completely forced and unnatural! i guess i've always had a camera in her face - annoying mommy.

let's see, what else?  ahhh yes, the more things change the more things remain the same.  haysie bear is growing so fast and yet....she is still a complete and total mess.  she is so bad  mischievous!!  she is 16 months old today.  something new-ish:  she loves to go down any slide at any playground no matter how high, twisty, turny, covered, uncovered, steep, small, big....doesn't matter!! she's going down it!  she continues to be insanely active and very verbal.
favorite pastime: emptying a package of baby wipes.  drives her mommy crazy!

we've been gearing up for halloween!  i have some really spooky ladies!  sarah kate loves halloween!

i thought about not having a pumpkin painting playdate this year simply because it's just such a busy month already but sk wasn't about to let me skip that!  it was our 3rd one so she really looks forward to it and i couldn't disappoint her and we really had a good turnout so i'm glad we did it.  she had a BLAST!  we painted pumpkins but i didn't get any pics of that....i actually didn't take many pics at all but here are a few...

so glad we have a bouncy house!  kids love that thing!
in this pic i see: greer, taylor, allie, calvert, laney, sarah kate, and drew

3 girls from sk's class: caroline g., caroline k., and alden

what a great time!  hindsight....next year i am SO making all of us moms put our kids in a group somehow and take a pic.  i know that sounds like torture but for sk and hayes's "baby book" they may want to see their friends altogether one day.  i just don't do a good job of capturing everyone.
oh and haysie may was there and loved every second - the more people the better in her opinion!  3 of her little friends her age were there, too.  plus, hayes's favorite thing in the whole entire world is being outside.  i do have one pic of her from the party even though she wasn't looking....
if i need to contain her then i can put her in the wagon (another one of her favorite activities.)

and finally, this past weekend we went to atlanta for a wedding.  we stayed with the mccord family who we love dearly and rarely get to see.
on saturday morning kristen and i took ella kate and sk to the nail salon for a mani pedi (and a little neck massage - hilarious...sk nearly fell asleep sitting in her chair)

we had a great time with old friends saturday night!  weddings have become few and far between for us so it's always a blast when someone gets hitched!  good times=)

we got to have lunch and play with yaya & dougie on sunday.  sk wanted to stay in atlanta!  she loves playing with yaya and dougie so much!!
now off to bed!  more to come soon - my cowgirl and her cow have some trick or treating to do thurs!

the patch, the first time singing with the choir, the first field trip and a date night with daddy.

we took the girls to the real pumpkin patch at boone hall last sunday.  we didn't do the petting zoo, bouncy houses and all the other fun stuff - hayes is too wide open for that!  i'm taking sk and meeting one of her little friends to do all that stuff this sunday.  but anyway, both girls enjoyed running through the patch and sk picked out a big pumpkin for our front porch since she used the one we bought from a local church to make her "mrs. pumpkin head"....

at the pumpkin patch....

driving the tractor....

both of my children got an "f" in picture taking at the patch...

anyway, we tried!  they were too distracted to worry with my picture taking!

earlier that day sarah kate sang at church with the angel notes choir for the first time.  she had only been to 2 rehearsals but still somehow knew all the words and motions!  she was excited to participate and just did great.  later i told her what a great job she did and she said, "that's because i have such a beautiful singing voice, mommy!"  ha!  no problems in the confidence department i suppose.
i snapped a pic of her before we left the church yard....

i love this sweet girl so much!!

yesterday sk and i met her other classmates over at the sullivan's island fire dept for her first field trip!  she was so excited about this and made a fire safety list and everything!

her class....

friends....caroline g, sarah kate, and alden

putting out some fires=)

 driving the firetruck with caroline!

after a picnic lunch we played on the playground for a little while....

and finally, last night the learning center had a "football frenzy for fathers" in place of "donuts for dad."  sk was SO excited!  they made a couple of football crafts and ate some tailgating type food.  trey said she was all hyped up about it and they had a great time.  i'm so glad he was able to go with her.  he went to 'donuts for dad' last year and i think that was her favorite day of the whole entire year....she loved having him in her classroom (plus, who doesn't want a donut from time to time?!!)

just a few things that we've been up to lately that needed to be documented!!

it's fall y'all!

time for pumpkins and mums and cowboy boots and georgia football!  boy those dawgs needed some help on that field today!  not good, but we have so many out due to injuries....what can you do except cheer extra hard, look extra cute and love them anyway.  why does hayes look so BIG!??

it's time for halloween and costumes and candy and cows and cowgirls!  hayes is the cow just like sis was when she was hayes's age.  sk told us right after last year's halloween that she wanted to be a cowgirl this year and believe it or not she hasn't budged!  worked out great, too - cow/cowgirl.  very appropriate for my southern girls who love their papa (cowboy ken).  let's hope they're well for halloween - seems to be an awful lot of sickness going around up here and we certainly haven't been spared ourselves.

this blog is essentially my girls' baby books and i certainly must record sk's first hair cut!  or hair snip if you will.  i just cut about an inch off of her braided ponytail this morning.  it looked awfully frayed at the end so i snipped it off.  she was okay with it!  she told me that she would rather not know when i decided to do it so i snuck up on her and did it real quick.  people who don't observe hair ends wouldn't notice, but it needed to be done!

so anyway, here are a few more pics from today and a video of my daredevil at the park.

here she comes...

someone didn't want to be placed back on the stair...

still here.

the lucy family is still here!

still a little bit crazy...

still doing things we aren't supposed to do....

still cute as ever....

still sweet & loving sisters....

still showing favoritism....

still anything but still.....

still hanging around the playground (& scared to do a flip like i used to all those years ago)....

still helping mommy cook....

and in the news....
*sk has been fighting some sort of weird virus since late tuesday.  the symptoms were a tummy that feels "bad" and a lethargic sk.  she is SO much better today and her eyes are beginning to look more alive and less weak.

*hayes had her 15 month apt on monday.  she hates going to the dr!  she was 21 pounds and 4 ounces which is in the 25th percentile.  she was 30" (40th %) but since she was kicking and screaming i don't think this is completely accurate.  Her head circumference was 46cm (50th%).  the dr said that her actions are "normal" but more characteristic of a "busy boy."  no duh.  she also said that her verbal skills are "pretty far above average." this is noteworthy - pretty sure it's unusual for a child who focuses so heavily on physical activities to be quite so verbal.  overachiever.  she also recieved high marks in the "being naughty" department and we can go ahead and use timeout when all else fails but we are supposed to really try to "pick our battles" with this one and just "let some stuff go" because she is so "spirited."  an insane amount of people have written books on how to raise children like hayes and i do believe i need to read every one of them.

*we went on a 3 night trip to wild dunes on isle of palms with yaya and dougie a couple of weekends ago.  it was so fun - the girls had a blast!  and last weekend trey and i stayed in chas, went to panic and did some things around the house while the girls went down to folkston for the weekend.  i will post a couple of pics from both of those weekends soon.  i need to get trey's phone to get some beach pics off of it.

*the past 2 saturdays the dawgs have played complete nail biters!!!  they must stop doing this!  the dawgs came out on top both games!  big wins over lsu and tennessee!!!  it's great to be a ga bulldog! (it's great to be a ga bulldog no matter what the football team does).  we were supposed to go to athens this weekend so that trey could take sk to her first game but we didn't want to expose the ewing family to our little virus so we'll go another time.  maybe app state or kentucky.

and finally, this video of hayes cracks me up (at the end).  my phone ran out of space and shut it off so if you're wondering if she ended up crying about it then i can assure you that she did not.  in typical hayes-o fashion she just shook it off and kept riding.  she bangs her head, falls down, runs into things, trips, etc. all day long and 9 times out of 10 she couldn't care less.

15 months and a beau update

well, that pic sums you up hayes!  you are crazy.

on sunday, sept. 29th, hayes turned 15 months old!  time is flying.  here are some things she has been up to this past month:
*only walks - no crawling.  she can go pretty fast.  she kind of has a stagger but that goes with her personality - she's not the deliberate or cautious type at ALL.
*talks a lot, although much of it sounds like a foreign language being yelled out by a crazy person (hayes has one volume level - loud!)
*current words: dada (still obsessed with trey), mum-mum, mimi, papa, no-no, no, hair bow, sis, uh oh, ball, bye bye, night night (sounds like nigh nigh), beau, bubbles, hey, all done, open, moo (when asked what the cow says).  she can also do the monkey sound, dog sound and duck sound but only when she's in the mood.  she rarely says mama and in fact, sometimes she calls me dada when the real thing isn't around.  i'm okay with it.;)
*favorite foods: peaches, cheese, fruit/smoothie pouches, scrambled eggs
*loves running around outside!  loves sliding at the playground.  loves wagon rides.  loves a change of scenery.  loves shopping and just being out and about.  loves going to school.
*still sleeps around 12 hours each night and then takes a 2 -3 hour afternoon nap.
*hates taking medicine
*loves dogs
*loves playing on sister's bed
*loves books so much!  doesn't really want to sit still for anything including being read to but loves to pull out books from her bookshelf and flip through them.
*she's a climber!  apparently she climbs on the table at school.  she's just very very active!
*her hair as described by trey is "all business in the front and party in the back."  she does have loose curls in the back - not tight like sk's.
*she's very strong willed.  it's her way or the highway (which is why god created pacifiers you know).
hayes loves her little gym class on wednesdays!

loves her afternoon naps

loves sharing her snack with her favorite furry friend

loves cheering on her favorite team and "calling the dawgs!"

adoring her daddy

something that is really fun for hayes is standing in chairs, highchairs, or anywhere else that you're not supposed to.

hayes is so lucky to have such a sweet big sis.  she has been so patient and kind.  she really enjoys playing with hayes but did tell me last week that sometimes hayes is a little rough with her.  ha!  the 1 year old bullies the 4 year old.
and sk is lucky, too!  hayes is already teaching her to lighten up and live a little.  go on sister - stand in a chair, it's not that big of a deal!!!.....

and as for beau - the med is not going to work for him.  they tested him several times last week to make sure.  but he is just doing great right now!  seems like normal ole beau!  hoping we have quite a while with him feeling good like he does right now.  i know eventually his heart will not be able to sustain the rest of his organs - they will begin to fail at some point.  but maybe he'll surprise us and stay just like he is right now for much longer than we ever thought possible!

we have h's 15 month appointment next week so i'll record stats after that.  her dr. always cracks up when she sees hayes stagger in......
