fernadina fun.

finally, my last post about our Easter week/weekend. sk and i went down to fernandina on thursday and came back to charleston on tuesday. trey came down on friday and stayed until monday so we were able to get some fun family time in. we had a great time eating out, playing on the beach and being with family.

this was the first trip where i noticed so many things being different than usual. we officially have a big girl and she is now really embracing this new title=) some of these things: no pack and play - i know the pack and play will be back in our lives soon, but we were a piece of baby equipment lighter thanks to our "big girl." no swim diapers - living at the beach means we have lived in swim diapers for the past 3 summers so it was weird (and great) to leave those behind now that our big girl uses the potty. no booster - i would normally strap her booster to a chair at the beach house and that would be where she eats her meals, but now she sits up at the counter in a big chair like a big girl. it's a great stage. sometimes, it's a little frustrating because she is so independent and wants to do everything "all by myself!" but i love my big girl so so much and can't wait to meet my new baby girl. ;)

sk

i just don't want to forget some things that she's been saying lately. actually, she says alot... sometimes she'll run out of things to talk about so she'll say, "and um, i don't really know, and um because i don't know...." it is hilarious.

today at the check-out counter at publix (after spending her entire shopping trip in the cart singing to the top of her lungs, "and i love my mommy and my daddy so much....." over and over) :
sk to the clerk: "my nana gave me my mousey" (nana is actually ashley's mom - a&b's nana - she did give sk a stuffed mouse from greenville and sk still adores that little mouse, although i have no idea what prompted her to share that info)
clerk: "well is that mousey there in your hand?" (sk had her pink elephant lovey with her).
sk: "um, no, this is eggy. my eggy is pink and ava's eggy is green. sometimes at night i tinkle in my diaper, but that okay, but now i have on my big girl panties."
clerk: oh!
then the bag man offers to help us out and begins telling me a story - sk doesn't like for adults to communicate in front of her without including her in the convo so she was constantly just repeating what she heard so she could be a part of it and then she says this lovely statement to the bag man: "sometimes i get m&ms when i go poo-poo."
awesome. he just smiled and kept on with his story.

today at lunch we went to our favorite little greek spot that has a great pita grilled cheese that she loves....resembles her favorite food (quesadilla). so when the lady came over to take our order i said, "she'll have the pita grilled cheese" and sk said, "i actually not want the pita grilled cheese, i just have a quesadilla, dat okay??"
i tried to kind of whisper her order because i knew she'd say something about how she didn't want a grilled cheese. so the waitress caught on to all this and when she delivered sk's lunch she said, "and here is your quesadilla." so sweet. and sk gobbled it up.

she told me today: "i need to sit on santa claus's lap and yell to him, I WANT SOME PINK EARRINGS SANTA CLAUS! dat what i need to tell him."

after nap today sk wanted me to sit and hold her for a while so i did. and this was one of our conversations:
sk: "i feel you tummy!" (she really says you...not your)
me: "i know, it's getting big isn't it?"
sk: "it getting bigger!"
me: "who is inside mommy's tummy?"
sk: in a tiny little voice, "oooh, baby hayes in there, she so tiny. i going to love her so bad and when she cries i'll say shhh shhhh shhhh don't cry baby hayes it going to be okay."
so sweet and sooooo funny!

last night our neighbor, kingslea, came over to babysit. when kingslea walked into the house sk said, "i wearing my sweeping booty dress. it pink. my daddy forgot to put a dipaer on me last night and i tinkled all over my bed, but that okay." (& that's a true story....and unfortunately, it's not the first time it has happened. sk is NOT night trained at all.)

and every single day: "i two. i not three yet, i just two. i turn three in july. july 6. i turn three. when i turn 4 i can go ride dumbo." (we've told her we're taking her back to disney world when she turns 4. she'd really just like to skip over 3 and go straight to 4.) sk is getting a big big surprise though. this morning, trey and i booked a little weekend trip for this may and we are taking her back to disney world. she is going to be so so excited when we pull into that magical place;) may as well get in another trip before she turns 3 since she won't be free anymore after that. and one last trip as a family of 3 will be nice.

we really don't have many dull moments around here.

folkston egg hunts.

trey, sk and i went over to folkston on saturday to celebrate lucas & gabriel's fourth birthday over at fran's house! i can't believe they are already 4. all the little cousins were able to make it: sk, ava, bryce, reagan, riley and the birthday boys. they played and played, hunted Easter eggs, and then ate cake and icecream. it was so fun and it was nice to have all the kids together.

precious little birthday boys! and it was their actual bday...the 7th. our cousin amy makes the cutest cakes - and they are delicious, too!

after the birthday party, my mom and i went over to jekyll island for a wedding. trey stayed in folkston and took sk over to our cousin maryeve's for her annual egg hunt where all these kiddos got to hunt eggs again! he took a few pics....

after 3 egg hunts, sk is a pro! i'm so glad we were able to make it over to the boy's party and i'm glad that sk was able to go to the big hunt at maryeve's.
love Easter time with our big family!

Easter Sunday.

i suppose the beach house curse has lifted for the lucys. after sarah kate's class party on thursday, we drove down to the beach house where we spent 5 fun and, most important, sick-free nights. i'll do another post about all our beach fun soon. as for Easter sunday, the Easter bunny found us at the beach house and then we went to st.marys to join jonathan, ashley, ava, bryce, mimi and papa at jonathan & ashley's church for their Easter service. after church we went to their neighborhood clubhouse for lunch. we love joining them for Easter!

the twins are beginning to learn and understand about Easter and the resurrection of Christ. bryce, who is very serious about her education, has especially had alot to say about it and she can tell the story quite well! anyway, ashley and the girls spent the night with us thursday night and mimi came over to take us all to dinner. ava rode with me and mimi while sk rode with bryce and ashley to the restaurant. ashley was so tickled at the conversation on the way - she said bryce and sk tried to out-talk each other. they are big time talkers for sure. anyway, she said that bryce told the Easter story and talked about how Jesus is not dead, but he is alive!!! and she said that sk chimed in and said, "and Jesus loves me!" amen, girls! made us all laugh.

just waking up....

she wanted the bunny to put eggs in her basket. so he did, along with a few books, 2 new bathing suits and a new straw-cup.

feeling fancy in her Easter dress. sk is going through a HUGE dress phase and all she wants to wear is a dress - smocked ones are her favorite because they are longer and fancier. girls.

our last Easter as a family of 3.

walking back to our cars.....

trey, sk and i went back to the beach, papa went back to work, and everyone else went back to their houses. and sk cried the whole 30 minutes back to fernandina because she didn't want us all to part ways, "but i want us all to be togetter!!!" "i want ava bug, and brycie bear, and mimi, and papa, and jon-jons, and ashey!!!!" she was truly in the depths of despair.....i wasn't even sure if she would be able to join trey and i on the beach or if she would need to lay down and nap. she pulled it together and we had a great afternoon on the beach and a fun dinner downtown.

"heck no i'm not taking a nap, i'm going to the beach! y'all comin'??"

digging to china with daddy....

ready for our Easter dinner at peppers;)

love her!

ice cream!

hello, fish....

what a great Easter we had! we are blessed and are so thankful that Jesus died to save us from our sin and now lives with God in heaven and in our hearts.

John 11:25-26
Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die."
