weekend in folkston.

last weekend we went to folkston to spend some time with my family.  we hadn't been since christmas and that's just too long for sk to go without seeing ava and bryce!  she misses them all the time.  i took the girls down thursday after school & sk's art class.  it ended up being a weekend full of cousin time so sk was in heaven - just what she had been wanting.  and hayes had a blast of course - she loves a good time and being with people (especially family).

friday was one of sk's favorite days of her life so far.  i took her to st. marys to have lunch with ava & bryce in the lunchroom at their school.  she thought that was the coolest thing in the world!

i didn't get a pic of them eating!  but afterward, we walked down the hall with them to their classroom and they each showed her where they sat.  sk and i looked at their work displayed in the hallway and we were so impressed with their writing!

adoration!  she thinks they are IT!

sweet girls
after we walked them back to their class, we went to visit aunt ashley's room.  her kids were napping so we got to talk to her and mrs. lanae for a bit.  sk was so excited about the whole thing - "i got to eat lunch in the big cafeteria and i'm not even 6 yet!!!"  she did think it was a little noisy..ha!  they eat lunch in their classrooms at sk's school and have to keep it down!

as for the rest of the weekend….

lots of golf cart rides to feed the horses

lunch with the cousins fri, sat, and sunday!  and dinner with them on saturday, too.

saturday was an all day cousin party at mimi's!

saturday after dinner, my dad and trey went out to the backyard to bury our beau boy.
my dad designed and ordered a marker for him.
the day we had him put to sleep we discussed our options with our vet and decided that the best thing for us to do was to have beau cremated.  so we did.  and the funeral home who took care of him did such a great job - they were very sweet and handled everything with such good care.  they gave us a clipping of his fur and some paw prints.  i didn't get a fancy urn or anything.  his ashes are in a cute little paw-print tin which is now buried next to my childhood dog, soccer.  our family dog chip and cobey cat are there as well.  i sure do miss my beau beau!  i'm glad that he is buried there - he could have lived down there and been perfectly content chasing butterflies and birds and squirrels all day long.  he loved it there.

trey had an oil painted of beau and i love it!

i wish that i had taken a video of the girls saying goodbye to each other after lunch on sunday!  they did some kind of cousin chant where they put their hands in the middle (basketball style) and said something like, "GO COUSINS" or whatever - that wasn't it, but something of the like.  it was really funny! and sweet.

video.

i just downloaded a video of hayes to youtube and thought i'd put the link on our blog.  because she is so funny.  this was tuesday.  we dropped sk off for a make-up art class and went home to play outside (her favorite thing to do).  my mom was texting us to say that she wanted to come visit this week or next but couldn't so i took a video to send to her.

some things about the video that are SO hayes:
*in the beginning she is pretending that she is going to "slide" down the rock wall.  she does this every time to get a rise out of me.
*she says, "'scuse you mama."  ha!  i remember that sk was around this age when she started saying this, mainly to beau - scuse you beau-beau.  beau was always in her way because he was looking for her to drop something from her snack trap.
*she doesn't have socks on because in the car she often takes her shoes off, socks off and then puts her shoes back on.  i don't always feel like redoing it all!
*she has one pant leg up and part of her other pant leg is unsnapped - that's just how hayes rolls…just a little bit off.  we don't want to look TOO perfect - then people may not realize that we live on the edge, walk on the wild side, are a rebel without a cause, etc.
*she pretends that there is a horn in the middle of the steering wheel "beep beep."
*she thinks a pirate and a bear make the same noise.
*she knows she's funny.

we bundled up to go to the playground today.

sk was telling me a secret.  she's confused about what secrets are because the whole neighborhood could have actually heard this one if they were listening.  i think my eardrum is fine.  (i kid.  it wasn't that loud but a secret it was not.)

summer can just go ahead and come.  we're ready!

blowing rock 2014.

every mlk weekend we travel to blowing rock to have a little fun in the snow.  it was mine and trey's 6th trip, sarah kate & beau's 5th trip, and hayes's 2nd trip.  it was the coldest one yet!  but we had such a great time - we built a snowman, played in the snow, went sledding, went out to different fun places to eat, went to boone, and enjoyed being cozy by the fire.

our annual blowing rock trip has become one of our favorite lucy family traditions!
here come the pics!!!  i took a million - none of my children (beau included) actually enjoy pics so i may get about 20 good ones for every million taken;)  ha!

sweet beau boy!  he never minds the snow at all, but the altitude bothered him a little this year.    he needed more oxygen up there!  but he acclimated after friday night and slept well saturday and sunday nights.

headed downtown to play and to eat at our favorite lunch spot!

sk is a good sport and obliges hayes in whatever she wants to do.  and on this particular day, hayes wanted to feed everyone some of her puffs.

making snowballs to throw at us

our driveway!  it snowed a lot on friday night and saturday so we had a rough time with this darn driveway!

hats off to all the snow moms out there.  great for a visit but i'd hate to have to layer up so much each time we went outside!  she looks like randy from the christmas story.

obligatory annual boot pic!

3 of my kids (dumbo counts).  the other was "napping" aka - playing in the pack n play before going back out to play in the snow.

he was always just part of the family!
