apple of the week, etc.

sk's class has an "apple of the week" each week.  each student was assigned their week at the beginning of the year & it goes in alphabetical order by first name so sk's week was towards the end of the list (can't believe we are nearing the end of her kindergarten year!)  sk's turn was april 6th-10th.  on monday she had to take an "all about me" poster board in and present it to the class.  she wanted ZERO help with this.  so i printed out the pictures she wanted and she taped them to the extremely bright pink poster board that she picked out.  she labeled a few pictures but said she was going to just talk about all the others.  according to her teacher she enjoyed presenting her poster ALOT.  her teacher does an "interview" with the apple of the week and apparently sk asked all morning when she was going to have her "review."  ha!  they also are allowed to take in a special snack for the class so on tuesday sk took in cinnamon bread elephants that she pretty much made herself!  we made these when she was 3 for "Ee" week at pre-k and she was SO thrilled to do it again.  and her class knows about sk's love for dumbo so it was certainly an appropriate sk snack;)

left: sk monday morning - off to school with her poster…..she was so excited!  that girl loves kindergarten!!  right: her elephant snack
at the end of the week, on friday, the apple of the week takes home "weekend monkey" along with weekend monkey's journal.  the kids have to take weekend monkey with them wherever they go and then write about it in the journal and document it through pictures as well.  so….

weekend monkey helped cook our kabobs friday night

headed to laura catherine's frozen bday party

we picked up alden and ames to take to the party…..weekend monkey was all about the princess party

left: elsa was at the party!  right: it rained later that day so i took sk and weekend monkey to see Home.  sk loved it!

weekend monkey went to church on sunday=)

after church, weekend monkey, sk and i took trey's car to the car wash (it frightened weekend monkey at first)...

then sk's favorite part happened - the rainbow soap - and everyone was happy

getting a place set up for WM friday night

WM's bed for the weekend.
sk enjoyed her weekend with WM and certainly enjoyed being apple of the week!  i was glad to see that darn monkey go back to school.  it's hard to remember to take him with us everywhere.  that would probably be like having a 3rd child for me…."wait, where's the baby?!" ha!

and just some additional april pics…..

this is how they felt about my camera.

hayes….refuses to actually look at me with her eyes and smile at the same time.

little red riding hood day at ballet

ha, nice form

dance is exhausting!

our azaleas on each side bloomed at the same time this year!

some park time with sydney after play & pray at church

driving to mimi's!  she does this every time we're outside.

walking in the rain to hometeam to get her chicken wings!

bike ride with mama and her beanie boos

sarah kate was sick a couple of weekends ago and couldn't go to church but hayes does NOT like missing sunday school so she went with trey

meanwhile i took this silly girl, who was acting anything but sick,  to the dr.  she was having sinus headaches and had a minor ear infection.  she is just finishing up her meds today actually.

typing a "book"

we enjoyed having sk home with us that monday!  the girls cruised the neighborhood for a little while

sk enjoyed watching hayes at ballet

another car nap one day waiting for sissy to get out of musical theatre
bye bye april!  (almost)

first trip to the dentist.

hayes had her first dental appointment a week ago.  to my surprise, she was a perfect patient!  no tears and she let them do it all!

all i had to do was watch!  good job, hayesie bird!!

she's growing up in so many ways!

some haysie funnies:
-in trader joes buying snacks for my bunco group.  h: "bunco going to be at your house, mom?"  me: "no, we're doing it up at the pool house since daddy's out of town and ms. eleanor (babysitter) will be with you and sissy and will put y'all to bed."  h: "OH YAY!!!!  she's SO CUUUUTE!!"  ha! eleanor loved that=)

-bella walks by us as we're headed upstairs.  h: "hey bella. there's bella.  bella is so cute!  look at her!  i like your cat, mom.  she's sweet."  (the huge bite mark on my arm would suggest the sweet part is not quite accurate.  trying to keep her from drinking my bedside water at night does not always go well for me.)

-bees are on our church playground.  h: "there are bees on this playground!  isn't that disappointing!"

-i'm already up in her playset outside and she's coming up the ladder….me: "hayes, you coming?" h: "yes i'm coming, i'm just having some problems!"  ha!

she entertains all day long!  her actual voice tone, her language, her facial expressions, her hand movements….all entertaining.  she had a rough week last week with getting VERY easily frustrated and acting miserable, but snapped out of it sunday.  i just told her yesterday, "i'm so proud of your behavior this week, hayes!  you are really controlling your emotions nicely!"  her reply, "yeah, thanks mom!  i just got it together!"  ha!  i had to put her on a sticker chart last week and she really worked hard to earn those stickers!  whew.  until the next episode, i'll enjoy the more pleasant haysie bird.

Easter 2015.

i serve a risen savior

he's in the world today

i know that He is living

whatever men may say

i see His hand of mercy

i hear His voice of cheer

and just the time i need Him

He's always near

He lives
He lives
Christ Jesus lives today!

you ask me how i know He lives

He lives within my heart

thankful for this loving family of ours!

and the bunny did hop on by mimi and papa's to fill the girls' baskets with the some goodies…

just got to love sk's disdain for taking pics when the sun is in her eyes.  if anyone ever wonders why my children are always in sunglasses….well, it's not because we think it's cute.  they both inherited their father's sensitive eyeballs!  sk's is ridiculous though.

sk could have cuddled the bunny all day long!

a few from Easter morning….

Easter blessings from the lucy family=)
