happy birthday, sarah kate!

sarah katherine lucy! you are TWO years old today! you were born on july 6, 2009 at 10:09 pm. one day past your due date and one day before your scheduled induction. that's so you....you can do things in your own sweet time, and you want to try to do things on your own before you ask for help. you were 6 pounds 13 ounces and you were 20 inches long. i'll never forget that moment....ever. the best moment that your dad and i have had. instant love. what a complete joy you have been these past 2 years! so today i am supposed to do your "2 year post" with your latest info and going-ons, BUT i'm going to wait and do it on monday after your 2 year check up. not only will i have your stats then, but i'm still working on your party....can't wait to celebrate YOU with friends and family on saturday.

trey and i went upstairs to get sk together this morning. we sang happy birthday to her and i recorded it but i'm not even going to try to download a video on here because it just doesn't work! i need to look into all that at some point! anyway, she was happy! she said, "happy birthday, sarah kate!" several times throughout the day. she definitely "got it." she knew it was her birthday and she knew she should be getting some cake sometime before her day was up! she didn't forget to remind me of this several times either!!

she got a few new books and some silly bandz this morning which she enjoyed playing with while i got her breakfast ready. she's getting a few other things on saturday and then trey has been spending a few hours each afternoon this week getting her playset ready. it's about done and looks great!

she wore a nightgown for the first time last night. her aunt fran gave her a new one that's so cute and has little ballerina dancers on it. sk tinkled on it when i was changing her last diaper before bed. luckily, ava and bryce had this cute one in their hand-me-down stack! at first she was really upset about taking off her "princess" gown but this one has crowns on it so she totally was all about this one too so it worked out. and one of my mom's very best friends, mrs. beverly, made this one. here she is reading her elmo book. she still loves that cute little guy and i'm not going to lie....sk has learned a ton of stuff from that little red monster.

sarah kate and i had a nice day together. we went to the beach. not only because sk loves the beach but because we needed to collect some beach sand in a bucket for her party favor lollipops. at least that's done!

see that sand down in there? straight from sullivan's island, our favorite beach. the seashells came from sullivan's, too. sk collected a bunch a few weeks ago.

my little 2 year old beach girl. i love her so!

okay, random i know but i LOVE having someone play with my hair or brush my hair (lightly). in fact, when i was in college my friend katie and i used to get a brush and take turns brushing each other's hair while we watched 'friends' on t.v. she loved having her hair brushed as much as i did. welllllllll.......guess who is ALL about playing with my hair??? that's right...sarah kate ...and she doesn't pull it! it's perfect. she played with it throughout an entire episode of sesame street yesterday and when i'd turn around to talk to her she'd say, "turn around!" and push my head back towards the t.v. love it! she started doing it on the beach today and i tried to get a pic...

and yes, she looks like casper. i paint her with sunscreen because i'm terrified that she's going to get burned as much as we are out in the sun. pretty sure some people think i'm borderline psycho but that's alright;)

our friend kyle, who sk lovingly refers to as "mr. cow", came over this afternoon to help trey get some things done on the playset. after sk woke up from her nap she and i went to a store called "cupcake" to get....well....cupcakes. we got 4...one for the bday girl, one for me, one for trey and one for "mr.cow." sk blew out her candle and we sat in the back yard and enjoyed our cupcakes. we ended up staying out there for a long time and sk got to see the progression of her playset....she was able to slide on it tonight and kyle pushed her in a swing and she just loves it. one of her favorite things....the built-in picnic bench under one of the platforms. she likes that sort of thing=) i foresee many lunches out there in our future!

so that was her day! she's the dearest little girl and we are so glad she is ours!
