you okay, buddy?

our new navigator...

trey and i should be ashamed...we both thought he'd pace and whine the entire time. he didn't do either of those things.
good job, beau beau!

dawg days of september.

the beginning of our day went something like this:

toes in the water.....

lunch . "you know, food just tastes better when it's eaten on a boat." -trey lucy

wind in our hair...

and good tunes in the air...

ahhh....life was good. got home in time to cheer on our dawgs. it was a great game really. but still.....the end of our day looked more like this:

i know, i know....i need to get a new pic of sk crying in her uga gear. she went to sleep before the end of the game, but man did she have a good time cheering for her team. she jumped around with us and yelled out every single word we did (don't worry....we kept it rated g). i went out for a while during half time and when i returned trey had her all dressed in her uga jumper and she ran up to me, pointed to her "g" on her dress, and said, "DAT GEORGIA!!"
why can't we just win.
darn. darn. darn.

sk's n.a. meeting.

"hello, my name is sarah kate and i'm a recovering napper. i haven't had a nap in.....8 days. it's tough you know, my mom is a nap enabler & i nearly relapse back into a daily snooze everyday thanks to her. i just have to be strong & continue to just play and rest in my crib during 'nap' time...just keep those eyes OPEN. i keep telling myself that naps are for babies.....& i'm 26 months old now so i can beat this, i just know it."

happy anniversay.

my parents have been married for 42 years today. that's a long time. and papa - i think she'll stay with you for 42 more as long as you don't go buying any sheep. sarah kate can live without sheep. so happy anniversary mama and daddy (mom and dad....mimi and papa....ken & rosemary). may you enjoy 42 more (without sheep).
love, your lucy family

an oldie but goodie=) and nearly appropriate as there was a hint of fall in the air here today!

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

first day of school.

sarah kate had a great first day!

unfortunately, sarah kate has decided that playing on the porch of our church fellowship hall is so much fun. it really slowed us up this morning. it went something like this....me: "come on sarah kate." sk: "no, follow me mommy, follow me!!" me: "sarah kate, we need to keep walking." sk: "no, this way mommy!!" and so forth.

sk wanting to play on the porch:

sk finally following mommy:

sk going into school like a big girl....

sk loved the fish sign outside her door. she said, "swim, swim, swim" while she moved it back and forth=) her room is an "under the sea" theme....perfect!

looking a little worried....

hanging up her bag on her cubby hook:

friends!! right off the bat, she noticed alden and violet sitting at the table playing with - gasp - playdough!!

i think she took alden's playdough roller=)

bye mom!

i picked her up through the carpool line today so i didn't really talk much to her teacher but she did say that sk did great! so proud of my big girl=)

AND, speaking of my "big" girl...i hung a sticker chart by her frog potty which is by her bathtub. she can put a sticker on her chart if she goes tinkle before or after bath. she went last night and tonight! that's 4 times total so far.....i think it's a good pre-potty training experience! she couldn't make herself 'go' before bath tonight but she really really wanted a sticker. i told her that she could only put a sticker on her chart if she actually went tinkle in frog potty. she asked to sit on it again after she got out of the tub and she tinkled away! right when she started to go she said, "hooray, sarah kate!!" ha! then, after careful consideration, she proudly chose an elmo sticker to put up on her chart. too cute=)

labor day.

labor day 2009 - the battery, downtown charleston - sk's first picnic.....

labor day 2010 - waterfront park, downtown charleston. sk, 14 months to the day (7 days away from being a full-time walker).....

labor day 2011 - waterfront park, downtown charleston - we can barely keep up with our 2 year old.

that wonderful little 2 year old is heading off to her second year of playschool tomorrow! i'm so excited for her, she's going to have so much fun - so many of her friends from last year are in her class again=) i've been so excited about getting back in the school routine and then i saw "the help" tonight and it made me want to just keep her home with me so that i can tell her how much i love her and how important she is all day long. ha! think she'd rather play with her friends for a few hours.

boat ride and gameday.

we had the most beautiful day in charleston yesterday - not a cloud in the sky and not too too hot. trey took us out on the boat when he got home from work and it was so much fun=) we went to the harbor and then back over to goat island.

and today is gameday! can't believe it's already time for college football to begin, but i'm glad it's here. the dawgs will play boise st. tonight in atlanta. we are ready to cheer on the dawgs! we got dressed in our UGA attire this morning and went out for breakfast at charleston cafe....yum. then the most exciting thing ever happened....we went to lowes and bought a new oven and microwave!! yay! i'm not sure exactly when they will come install it, but what i do know is this.....almost gone are the days of my oven just shutting off right in mid-bake and a microwave that may or may not heat your food. almost gone are the days of hearing an obnoxious beeping noise with F3 flashing across the screen of my oven. and gone are the days of a white oven/microwave. bring on the stainless. bring on the convection. bring on the stress free cooking.

happy labor day weekend! we look forward to having mimi and papa come up for lunch and to play for a while tomorrow. we also look forward to our annual lucy family labor day picnic downtown on monday if the weather is nice! we love that tradition that we created with sk....it will be our 3rd one and i'll be sure to post about it and include pics from the past 2 labor days as well. my how our girl has grown! i'm also going to see 'the help' on monday night which i'm excited about. haven't been to the movies in forever and i really loved the book!

some pics to share!!

cooper river bridge

uss yorktown. okay, i know you can't really see it in the pic but there is a big number 10 on this ship. when sk saw the ship she said, "see number 10, i see it!" i was a little surprised. we count all the time but i didn't know she could identify any numbers. no doubt, i have mickey and the gang to thank for this number identification. they are always showing numbers and counting on m.m.clubhouse. thanks, mickey!

so then we see a big cargo ship coming out of port and into the channel. and trey says (please read this in a dorky voice if you have one), "sk, this is an example of an economic engine of our state." alright there dad.....let's just stick to identifying our numbers and explore the world of economics with her at a later date. ;) (trey knows we just like to give him a hard time...he's the best!)

our boat girl...

so happy to be on a boat ride...it had been a few weeks!!

learning to drive=) "sarah kate drive daddy's boat?" heard that alot!

sullivan's island bridge...

oooooo....i see dolphin! we saw 9 dolphin on our ride.....3 pairs and then a family of 3.

of course we got the giggles....

last night sk sat on frog potty before bath and concentrated....

well....maybe i don't have to tinkle???

"nothing's happening!!!"

time to cheer on the bulldogs!!

gooooo dawgs, sic em....woof, woof, woof!!

little bulldawg...

this is how we felt last season. let's hope for lots of smiles this year!

my favorite....i've listened to the recording of this a million times and can clearly hear it in my head....a classic:
"We hand it off to Herschel, there's a hole....5....10...12, he's running over people! Oh, you Herschel Walker!...My God Almighty, he ran right through two men! Herschel ran right over two men! They had him dead away inside the 9. Herschel Walker went 16 yards. He drove right over those orange shirts and is just driving and running with those big thighs. My God, a freshman!"
LARRY MUNSON - calling Herschel Walker's first touchdown run against the Tennessee Volunteers in 1980.
