don't get jealous, but this beauty has been sitting on my bottom porch since day one of construction about 3 weeks ago. everyone should be so lucky to have a beautiful yellow porta potty in their yard. i bet our neighbors are especially disgusted envious.
so what's left to do in this sun/playroom? construction came to a bit of a standstill last week when the wrong french doors were delivered. the correct doors were delivered today and will be installed tomorrow. i so hate to say goodbye to our interim french doors! they are so cute and sk has really enjoyed "flying" through them to go run around in "her" sunroom. ;) ;)
after that, the floors will be stained to match our existing floors and then the trim/walls will be painted. that's about it.
all trimmed out....
sarah kate's dress obsession continues. however, she has willingly worn some of her new spring shorts/capri outfits to school knowing that when she gets home she can then put on a dress. so this is kind of how her day goes....
dressed for school....
she goes to school. i pick her up and the first thing she says is, "can i go home and put on a dress?" so we go home and she does a quick run around the sunroom.....
runs upstairs....
and does the following....
she chooses a dress and usually says something like, "oh, this dress is so beautiful!" the adjective varies...beautiful, cute, gorgeous, perfect for me......
it's a real plus if her new flip flops match the dress of choice.
sarah kate and i have gotten in the bad habit of going out for lunch. during her almost 3 years of life we have always eaten lunch at home unless we go to the beach or have a park playdate in which case we pack a picnic lunch. our lunch outings started as a way to escape the construction, but i've noticed that we are going out for lunch even on the days when work isn't even being done over here! the main problem with this is my bank account. it's amazing how going out for lunch adds up!
sk has 3 favorite lunch spots: hometeam bbq, moes, and tasi (a smoothie/crepe cafe).
today we ate at tasi. she calls it "the smoothie store." i hadn't planned on eating out today but we were at target which is right by "the smoothie store" and it sounded good when she asked to go. sk already gets a fruit/spinach smoothie every morning at home so if we go to tasi then she gets 2. they throw in a handful of fresh spinach for us so i just see it as an extra serving of veggies for her;)
i usually get a ham/swiss crepe but today i had the monte cristo crepe...wowsa..it was yum...
sk takes a bite or 2 of her peanut butter wrap, but sucks her smoothie dry. every time. i don't even know why i order her an actual lunch.
| yes, the sailboat dress 2 days in a row. |
she painted a masterpiece after nap today. she said, "when daddy get home he really going to love this!" ha! and he did.
some things that have made me really happy lately:
starbucks has a frappuccino happy hour! from 3 till 5 they are half off. the pregnant lady gets to go to happy hour! a normally just over $4 drink only sets me back just over $2. and sk gets to choose a treat. you know what she chooses 9 times out of 10?? a cup of ice water. she loves the ice and the green straws. i love it because it's sugar free and, well, just free altogether. ;)
also, there are 2 carolina cider stores along highway 17 which we take when going down to folkston.
great spot for sk to use the potty and to grab some yummy boiled peanuts. on the way back to charleston on sunday i got this gem......
i don't even drink soft drinks but i thought it would be soothing to my throat and i truly enjoyed every drop. i have struggled with a sore throat/cough the past week and a half, but i think it's finally on it's way out! hope so! the coughing has interrupted my sleep so much that i have just been a zombie for over a week. and with only 10 more weeks before the sleepless newborn nights begin, i need my sleep!!
and finally, some recent sk funnies:
"oh, daddy, your belt is SO cute. it so awesome!"
"mommy, your chest is so big and mine is really small." (gee thank you, sk. or thank you hayes.)
sk: "mommy, i want 3 sisters!" me: "well, let's get this one sister here and see what we think. i think we just need one." sk to target check out lady: "i going to have a baby sister. i want 3 sisters. we probably just need one though."
sk to every woman she sees: "what color your toenails? mine are pink. mommy's are pink. 2 of us have pink toenails. yours are ______" (then she bends down and touches the complete strangers feet and tells them what color their toenails are. it just happens so fast! i have talked to her about not touching people's feet but she just gets so into it and it happens before i can stop her.)
sk wants to talk to everyone she sees. today at tasi she asked me if she could go over to the next table and talk to the lady sitting there. i said, "what do you want to talk to her about?" she said, "i want to ask what color she smoothie is." ha! i wouldn't let her go over there but sk could clearly see her smoothie so instead she yelled, "she smoothie is GREEN. like kermit."
all in all, sk is in the stage where when we are out in public she says exactly what she thinks and it can be really embarrassing. i know it's just this age. and it's actually kind of funny after the fact. she makes me laugh so much! love that little girl=)
