shorts!!! and a new bestie.

breaking news: sarah kate wore shorts to school today AND she didn't even cry about it!

huge deal for my dress loving lady.  we talked about it last night and i showed her what she was going to wear.  we talked about how cute it was and how sweet it is for mimi to send up nice clothes for her all the time.  i guess she decided that these shorts weren't too terrible=)

head, shoulders knees and toes, knees and toes....

eyes and ears and mouth and nose....

don't get me wrong....it was a very big step, but as soon as she got in the car after school she asked if we could go home and put on a dress before going to lunch.  hey....it's a start....3 hours in shorts.
 fancy toe-point

sk wanted to go get a bbq sandwich for lunch.  i said, "so, you want to go to hometeam bbq?"  she said, "no silly mommy, it not called hometeam bbq, it called hometeam bbq sandwich.  silly mommy."  so off to hometeam bbq sandwich we went;)

yesterday, sk and i went to our favorite "escape the loud construction" spot....

we stayed there for about 3 hours.  there were 2 ladies just down from us and one of them had a little boy -he was maybe 3 and a half if i had to guess?  anyway, he was down playing in the tidal pool and sk just went over and plopped down beside him and started talking to him and playing with himthey had a good time together!

on the way home i said, "sarah kate did you have fun?  did you make a new friend?"  sk replied, "yeah, dat liam.  he my bestie."
cracked me up.  apparently making new friends is not something she struggles with these days.

and finally, on a completely random note, trey has informed me that i'm the only person under the age of 80 who uses these things....

could this be true??!!  surely not.  this is where i keep my prenatal vitamins.  a couple of weeks ago i actually didn't use it and things didn't go well.  i just CANNOT remember taking it each night until i lift up the little daily lid and see if the pill is still there.  so for me, this little pill box is beyond necessary and i'm not ashamed.  let's see how well trey's brain would work if he was in his 7th month of pregnancy.  baby brain is a real condition.....the preggo books even say so! ;)  and hey, at least he doesn't have to hear this:  "trey, did you see me take my vitamin?  my water still looks too full.  do you remember, because i can't remember if i've taken it yet or not.  oh no, what should i do?  would another one hurt or should i just not worry about it and take one tomorrow?  the baby isn't going to suffer without one dose of prenatals, right?"  YES...that is how it went down a couple of weeks ago so instead of comparing me to an 80 year old he should be buying stock in these things.
