the best day. (& lots of pics! & rambling!!)

for baby book purposes, i am marking today, 10/15/12, as hayes's best day so far.  not for bragging purposes.....tomorrow may be awful.  just have this feeling that she is really liking her life outside of my tummy now.
wish i had taken some pics of all those precious smiles she gave me today!  but i didn't.  we had quite the day....well, actually we've had quite the  past several days!
sk's teacher called me on wednesday around 12:15 to come and get sk because she wasn't acting like herself - she didn't eat a bite of lunch and then nearly fell asleep at the lunch table.  when i got there she was in the office half asleep in her teacher's lap.  she fell asleep on the ride back home.  none of this is characteristic of my no-napping, school-loving, lunch-eating big girl.  her temp was 102.1.  ugh.
to the sofa she went.

took her to the dr. the next day since i wasn't able to keep her temp down in between ibuprofen doses and she was diagnosed with "a virus."   fast forward to today - day 6 of running a fever.  it has been low-grade ever since friday, but it has lingered for this long!  so i called the dr. and they wanted to see her again to be sure.  she looked good, yes it's viral, no there isn't anything we can do, yes it appears to be on it's way out, and no she is no longer contagious to her peers.  i think that by now we can just say she has plain ole cabin fever!
she was in a horrible mood when we got to the doctor's office.  she was tired, hungry, and her energy level has just been so low.  she did NOT want to sit in the sick area.  i took a picture or 2 of her misery.  she was TICKED that i took a pic, but i assured her that when she's much older that i'll tell her the story about how she screamed and cried at the doctor (and therefore lost her dress-up privileges for the remainder of the day) because she didn't want to sit in the sick area.  and i'll tell her about how she tested me by sitting in the well area and then inching her way back while glaring at me as she stood right at the "line" that separates the sick from the well.  and we'll laugh.  she said that she will NOT laugh about it, but she's so wrong about that.  one day....she'll laugh.  and i'll have these pics for proof.

i also had to tell another sick kid to get away from my baby.  seriously moms, keep your kids away from babies' faces in general but especially if they are sick!  it's not like i can stick hayes over in the well area while i sit in the sick area with sk.

so here are our latest pics from last week and weekend.  trey really won the hubby/daddy award this past weekend.  he kept the girls quite a bit.  i went to the spa on saturday and then went shopping.  he let me sleep in each morning.  my throat is starting to feel a bit sore and yesterday he just did everything while i went back to bed.  we had a nice weekend even though sk was sick - even went to the park and had a picnic.

on 10/10/12 hayes sat in the bumbo for the first time.  she likes it!

on friday, sk needed to go outside and collect leaves to bake a cake. (i just roll with it.  whatever.  yes, there are leaves and acorns in a frying pan on her stove.  and some crayons.  yummy cake to come i'm sure.)  getting to wear her dress-up clothes outside is a special treat.  she was pumped!
collecting.  isn't it funny that her dress-up bin has plenty of store-bought princess crowns and her favorite crown to wear is one that we made with a piece of paper, scissors, crayons and some tape.
hayes strolled around watching the princess gather her cake ingredients....

on saturday, trey and i took our pumpkins to the park to eat lunch.  sk played a little, too.  her fever hovered around 100 this weekend so she didn't do too much.
she was fever free when she held hayes.  i actually thought we were in the clear on saturday, but i was wrong.

at the park:

my little pumpkin....

her favorite pastime lately: laying on her cat mat with her lovies in her mouth while staring at the ceiling fan.  she also loves to catch a glimpse of the t.v. every chance she gets!

so that's what we've been up to!  hoping to send sk back to school on wednesday.  thursday we'll have all of sk's little friends over for a halloween playdate to play and paint pumpkins.  praying that this virus leaves her alone very soon so that she can get back to her normal activities!
and praying for more great days to come for hazie may!!  great days mean her tummy and all its' parts are strengthening and feeling good! =)

my pumpkin.

sk doesn't like me to pull out the camera AT ALL.  she runs.  soooooo....

me: "sk, if you don't stand over here and smile then we aren't going to the pumpkin patch!"
sk (running):  "okay!!!! where do i stand??"

mommy -1  sarah kate -0

the patch was closed by the time we got out of the door so we went to the methodist church and let sk pick out 15 tiny pumpkins for her halloween playdate so all her friends will have a pumpkin to paint.  she was in heaven with all those tiny pumpkins, counting them and getting them all organized just the way she wanted.

to make her day complete we then went to moe's where she scarfed down her cheese quesadilla, chips with sour cream, and chocolate chip cookie.
hayes got an a+ for her behavior on our family outing.  but just to be clear, i am grateful for pacifiers.

oh hazie may!

well.  at least we know her reflux issues are not interfering with her growth.

"what if i stretch my legs out?  does that make me look a little more, um, trim?"

"awe, man.  it doesn't?  well, i tried."

"what about with clothes on? lookin' good, right? what did you say, mom?  this is a 6 month outfit!! but it feels tight!! oh, dear.  i really must stop waking mommy up TWICE in the middle of the night to eat.  i think my 3 month growth spurt is causing some problems for everyone."

"let's just take a moment to thank God for elastic pants and carry on.  because look at how darn cute i am.  and i KNOW mommy loves seeing me in the middle of the night.  i just know she does and being held is, well, only the BEST thing ever.  let's also thank God for arms.  arms that are willing to hold babies.  i love love love my mommy's arms!"

"tummy time you say?  alright mom.  i'll lay on my tummy for a few.  anything for the woman who will scoop me up at the first little cry i let out."

"we done yet?"

"WHAAAAAA!!!! you just put me in pj's didn't you???  that means you are about to put me upstairs FAR away from you in a dark room.  don't you worry, woman - i WILL call for you when i need you.  don't. you. worry."

oh hazie may=)

iPics.

sweet hayes.

my boy.
she loves to drive.
in a daze.  not a good driver.
precious girl!
off to school we go.
boo!  it's halloween month & sk is ready!
trey: dad or horse?  princess tiana says horse!

thank you to ashley's super creative friend, deanna, for sharing the elephant bread recipe with me!  sk enjoyed making these and will take them to school tomorrow to kick off the week of letter Ee.
sk assembled the ears, trunk & eyes.  i added the sugar & cinnamon.
guess who didn't want to have her picture taken.  okay, neither of us, but i played along and sk was not nice about it.  trey read this article last week and decided to grab the camera even though i look tired and pretty horrible without makeup. thanks trey=) (but i'm being serious.  read the article.)
sk's class had "donuts with dad" on friday morning to celebrate the letter Dd.  trey said it was really fun and sk enjoyed having her daddy in class for a while and she enjoyed her sweet morning treat!

Dd is for daddy.  Dd is for DAWGS!!!  those dang dawgs forgot they had a game on saturday and just decided not to go.  we love you anyway, georgia bulldogs.  can't change where we graduated from and wouldn't want to, but seriously come ON!!!  don't you know that 2 of your finest (hehehe) alumni are living over here in gamecock country!  we were unable to wag our dawg tails all day today and just stayed inside to lick our wounds. (except not really - trey and sk ran errands and then i took beau on a nice long walk.)

oh this little lady is a huge talker!  jabber jabber!  love her snugly little self to pieces!

who are these people???

beau and i found ourselves walking near these looney tunes yesterday afternoon.
trey thought he should walk with his pack on before going on a men's hike with our church in a few weeks.  have no idea why the boots and socks were necessary.
sarah kate was dressed up in a leotard, fluffy skirt, tiana shoes and a crown that she made at school.
they got some stares.  and one girl laughed as she walked by talking on her phone - pretty sure she wasn't laughing at the person she was talking to.
hayes cried a little at one point.  hmmmm....wonder why.  i think she's fussy sometimes because she's wondering what kind of family she was born into.  maybe, while safe and warm in my tummy, she had unrealistic expectations of her future family - set the bar a little too high.  she's probably thinking these things:
"the man is so weird and has no shame.  the kid is a tantrum throwing disney princess wannabe who often spends her day tweeting like a bird (sk seriously pretends to be a baby bird non-stop and it's about to send me over the edge.)  the dog lost his ears all of a sudden.  and the woman can't even remember her own name half the time.  these people are insane!  help!"

welcome to the family, baby hayes.
=)
