sk and i went to the beach for about an hour today. i didn't realize it was going to be SO windy so we just ate lunch, she played for a while and then we came back home.
so prissy....
sk loves our beach days. she loves the tidal pool!
sk walks from the car to the beach with me now. we take the bob stroller still, but i use it to get our bags, cooler and toys out to the beach. we always go to sullivans and no matter where you park, each station has a long path that you walk down to get to the beach. i have had snakes cross my path before and for some reason today while we were walking down the path i just thought to myself, "gosh, it's a hot sunny day and lots of bushes on either side of this path. i hope we don't see a snake." well, about 20 seconds after i had that thought i could see in the distance - maybe about 10 or 15 feet in front of us - the longest, thickest black snake EVER crossing the path. i froze and told sk to stop walking and hold my hand. i didn't tell her why and she couldn't see it. the stroller was right in front of us so she doesn't have a good view at her height. i waited for it to get to the other side, which it was so long that for a little while it's whole body spread the width of the path. shivers. then we walked again and i sped up when we got to his spot, although i knew it would be highly unlikely for him to turn around and re-cross. i hate snakes. i didn't want to scare sk though so i was calm about it even though it made my skin crawl. wish i had taken a pic with my iphone - i was too frozen. note to self - don't go to station 26.5 anytime soon.
the hardwoods for the sunroom were delivered today and he'll come back to install them on monday. when the rest of the work is finished then he'll come stain them to match our existing hardwoods. the french doors should go up monday, too, as well as the ceiling and trim/molding! we are doing bead-board on the ceiling.
i just cannot find a good pic of our living room windows so this goofy pic (from last march) will have to do! those were taken out.....
and now we have the big door way where the french doors will go...
below: looking into the living room from the sunroom. it will be nice to be able to leave the doors open OR close them off. trey and i are looking for a queen sleeper sofa. we found one that we like last night, but are still just looking until we make a definite decision. i can imagine that sk's middle school sleepovers will take place in that room (doors closed!) i can imagine that if sk and hayes are ever allowed to date that they may watch a movie in that room with their date (doors OPEN!) you know, a rated "g" movie (maybe even a disney princess movie) with the boy from our church who is best known for his stellar academic performance in school and his commitment to church mission trips in third world countries. that guy.
for now though, this room will house lots of toys, a dollhouse, perhaps the play kitchen, probably an exersaucer and the ole trusty "lamby infant swing" and such.
beach, then bath, then 15 minutes of dumbo, then nap....and she's still snoozing=)
trey is home early which is nice. hayes's bookshelf that her lala and dougie bought her has arrived and he is going to set that up soon. her new glider that her mimi and papa bought for her arrived yesterday, too and is already in it's little corner. so nice to have parents who like to help us create wonderful nurseries! i'll have to do a nursery update in the next couple of weeks. think we'll have her room ready by the time she arrives;)
