our week (an old post).

***this is an old post from friday, august 17th.!***

first, let me say that "katie day" (last saturday) was ahhhhmazing.  after getting a glorious hour-long massage i picked up gyro's for trey and myself, went home to eat, and then went back out to do some shopping.  spent some of the birthday $ and giftcards that my generous parents and inlaws gave to me.  i did some grocery shopping and then got home around 5:30.  i.felt.normal.
trey enjoyed his time with the girls.  he probably has a new appreciation for me as a stay at home mom to a 3 year old and a newborn (a newborn who is suffering with reflux).  i know there was at least one "mishap" that is a pretty good example of our real life:  trey was getting a bottle ready to feed to hayes and hadn't put the cap on yet when "cinderella" went and grabbed the bottle off the counter wearing her gloves and spilled it all over the floor.  luckily i left plenty of milk for such an incident, but still....this is the kind of story that no mom who spends time hooked up to a cow machine wants to hear. no use crying over spilt milk i suppose.

we had a busy week!

both girls did some swinging....

where is sarah kate???

we swam and cooked out with friends one evening....
sk, lilly, mrs. mandy, and violet

hayes likes her bathtime now!  her umbilical cord didn't fall off until she was 4 weeks so she couldn't get a real good bath in her tub until then.  she does NOT like getting out though!

sk and i went for a mani/pedi one evening....

we took hayes to the doctor.  she is still so uncomfortable after feeding, and generally when she is awake she is needing to be held upright to feel good (the baby bjorn creater is my favorite person in the whole world).  it is so discouraging to have a baby who just doesn't feel good and is usually fussy when awake unless you're holding her a certain way!  miserable.  so the dr. switched her to prevacid.  i've had several friends tell me that their daughters were on prevacid and it worked great so we're hoping this is the answer for hayes.  this morning was only her second dose of it and it takes up to a week to see the big difference so it really is too soon to tell if it is going to work for her. (***update....it has now been over a week since the switch and we are definitely seeing a change in our girl!!!  she has even been smiling and having some really happy wake-times.  still uncomfy at times, but doing much much better.***)
she was 9 pounds 10 ounces...
at the dr.
after we left the doctor's office we went to shoe-la-la and bought sarah kate's tap and ballet shoes.  so now she is all set and ready for her first dance class on the 27th.  hope she likes it!  she likes her outfit at least;)

we had a couple of playdates and we went out to lunch twice.  i went out to dinner with lauren last night.  trey is coming home at 2 today to be with the girls while i go to a very important meeting with my hair girl..ha!  no, it is important, believe me!  so we're getting out and doing things and surviving and even having some fun, too!  if i can get hayes's meds all straight, get her feeling comfy AND get her to that magical 12 week mark when babies start to really feel comfortable with their life outside the womb then we'll be all set.  "all set" aren't the right words.  that makes it sound like, "then our lives will be perfect and my work is done."  ha!!  i'm a stay at home mom to 2 little ladies...my work will never be done.

**update** - this past wednesday, my mom came and got the girls and myself and we drove back down to folkston.  trey came down on friday and spent the weekend with us and then we came back home this afternoon.  hayes's first road trip down to the big folkston deserves it's own post!!  i'm working on it=)  tomorrow evening is sk's first dance class so i'm going to try to write about that, too.  praying that she behaves.  she really doesn't like being told how to do something so i'm a little nervous.  she kinda 'dances to the beat of her own drum.' ;)
