a couple of weeks ago i ordered a thumb guard off of ebay for sarah kate. this lady makes these fabric thumb and/or finger guards for kids to wear to help them break the thumb-sucking habit. i only ordered 1 guard because she only ever sucks her left thumb. she has NEVER sucked her right one. the first night with the "thinger" (that's what the lady calls them) was last saturday night. it was awful. we put it on her and she cried and cried and screamed and begged us to take it off. it was heartbreaking. we ended up not taking it off for her but we invited her to come back downstairs and watch a movie with us. she was so excited about watching toy story that she forgot about her worst enemy - the 'thinger.' so we watched the movie, took her back up there at 10 and she was so tired she fell right to sleep....success!! until the morning....she decided to start sucking her right thumb. so i ordered another one. all week she has worn her thinger on her left thumb without a fuss and sucked her right thumb (she only sucks her thumb when she is in bed). she said she stopped sucking her right thumb a few nights ago and she may actually be telling the truth about that. her second thinger came in the mail today....
thank goodness for princess fabric! she actually thinks these are pretty cool now. once hooked around her wrist, she can't get it off. i can barely get it off. two thumbs up!!
so, sarah kate lucy, you are on your way to kicking the habit!! this is great for your teeth and the roof of your mouth!
we are proud of her for only having one bad night. at least with paci removal the paci is out of sight. this is so hard because her beloved thumb is right there but she can't have it. she's doing great though.
she only sleeps with a couple of things...heehee!!
trey has been maximus (the horse from tangled) all night. one last ride on maximus before bedtime.
and a pic of hayes....
trey came home early to be with the girls while i went to get my hair done. when i got home he had hayes here in his lap and said, "good lord, katie, what are you feeding this child!" ha!! little cutie pie...i'm working on another post about our week which includes more about baby hayes and her reflux issues and such. she's 7 weeks today!!!
