friday night we took the girls to our church's fall festival. sk has a few events this year (including halloween) where she will need to dress up. she wants to be aurora (sleeping beauty) for the big event - trick or treating. but for the other stuff - the festival, monday's dance class, and her school parade on wednesday - she is just choosing whatever princess gown she wants to wear.
she chose snow white for the festival. she actually looked a little like red riding hood / snow white combo with her hair in pig tails and no crown. she wore her hair in pig tails on thursday and didn't get a bath thursday night which means her hair stayed in pig tails friday. listen - we barely made it to the darn festival!
my girls!!
sk was really excited about going. we were at the church earlier in the day dropping off a cake for the cake-walk so she saw all the games set up. i told her all about "trunk or treat" and explained how it worked - you trick or treat at all the parked cars and get the candy from the trunk of their car. clearly, we have never really talked about car's trunks before. we have suv's so we just say, "the back of the car." so after hearing about "trunk or treat" she looked at me and said, "well....elephants have trunks." her favorite animal - she knows all about the elephants! i said, "well, they do, but the trunk of a car is just the area in the back - like where we store hayes's stroller." and she thought about that and still replied, "will elephants be here??!!!" ha! that would be a dream come true for my girl!
trunk or treating
i don't have any pics of hayes, but she rode in that baby bjorn (attached to me of course) and had the best time taking it all in!
fishing for candy...
coloring a masterpiece....
cake walk....
trey's folks were here this weekend. it rained all day saturday so "yaya and dougie" were invited to MANY tea parties and such...
look who sucked her thumb for a while saturday night while watching the dawgs BEAT florida!!!
we were some excited dawg fans! always nice to win, but extra sweet when we get a win against those yucky gators!
we made it to church on sunday. sarah kate went to church with us for the first time and walked on down to the children's sermon like a big girl! she got out in the aisle and ran after alden to grab her hand when she saw alden walk by. she's growing up! trey took her to the toddler nursery after the children's sermon. hayes stayed in the church with us and was so happy....a little too happy in fact. i felt like her little noises, squeals and her blowing spit bubbles may bother others so after the sermon was over i took her to the nursery for the remainder of our time. she cried the whole time. she does not really like anyone other than me or trey to hold her. i've got to fix this somehow. i think i am going to join one of our local gyms that alot of my friends go to. they all rave about the child care room and i think it would be really good for me to hand her off to someone a few mornings a week.
you can see sk rummaging through my mums. she was saying, "oh, wow, these are so beautiful!"
and later in the afternoon we went to the pumpkin patch....
and now let's compare!!!
this is sk in 2009 - 3 months at the pumpkin patch in the little pumpkin dress
and hayes in 2012 - 3 months at the pumpkin patch in the same little dress (also previously worn by the twins!)
similar! sk had chunkier cheeks than hayes. she also had more hair which was a little darker than hayes's. sk's eyebrows have always been thicker and more defined than hayes's - makes me think hayes may be a blondie toddler.
hayes is 4 months old today!!! i'll post her 4 month pic after i take one later today. i'll do her 4 month post after her appointment next monday.
