8 months!!!!

i can't even believe that hayes is already 8 months.  so 8 months ago today trey and i awoke around 4:30 in the morning, got showered and dressed, loaded the car and headed to east cooper medical to begin what thankfully was a really smooth and easy induction, labor and delivery.  haysie may, you were deemed "the best baby in the nursery" by the hospital nurses.  if they had seen you 3 weeks later they would have been a little shocked at the baby you had become...ha!  no worries sweet girl, it took you a few months (4 or 5 but who is counting) to feel happy about your forced entry into this big ole world but you are loving your life, your family & all the things you see each day!  and you are happy, sweet, snuggly, rough, giggly, needy, messy, playful and completely precious!

look at you big girl!  it looks like your daddy shrunk and crawled into an easter basket....

some things to note about the past month...
*you are not crawling or even up on your knees rocking but somehow you manage to scoot yourself to new places (mainly to grab a toy).

*you eat 3 solid meals a day.  you can put puffs in your mouth by yourself.

*your favorite food is apple butternut squash - an earth's best meal.  you scarf it down better than any other food.

*you love your dad!  big time.  so just over the past week when he gets home from work he has to go straight to you and pick you up.  if he says "hi hayes" and then goes to the kitchen to put his briefcase down then you wail!!  you want him in your sight and you like to be in his arms.  your smile is so big & bright when he comes in and then your little arms flutter uncontrollably.

*you can wave

*you say "bye bye" all the time but i don't think you get what it means yet.

*you have a cold.  it's your second cold and i pray that it doesn't turn into rsv.  apparently once you've had it (and you did in december) then you are more susceptible to it.  last monday sk started with a little cold so i'm sure you got it from her.  or maybe you got it from chewing on the toys in the toddler room at the children's museum on tuesday.  community toys are disgusting to me but we get out & about for sis so germs are inevitable.  you are building up your immune system i suppose.

*you are very difficult to change.  you are SO active!

*you are messy.  think i've said that 100 times on here.  well, that hasn't changed.  you are napping right now in an outfit covered in your lunch.  you had blueberry, pear, and purple carrots so that should be fun to get out.  i don't think i owned stain remover until i had you.  now i need to buy stock in it.

*you sleep around 12 -13 hours at night which is great!  you take a morning nap from 10 till around 12.  your afternoon nap usually starts around 2:30 but sometimes we're out and about in the afternoon so you just catch a cat nap in your carrier.

*you love toys!  you like to sit on the floor and just play with all the things around you.  you think it's  even more fun when someone sits with you=)

*you have the best big sister, lucky girl!  she is so patient with you and kind to you.  i praise her a million times over throughout the day so that she'll continue to be so loving.  you are a very rough baby!  you pull at her so much and you grab her hair - she says, "haysie just doesn't know what she's doing cause she's a baby."

we love you, hayes lucy!  all the way up to the moon and back a billion times.

trey and i have differing opinions about the hair (or the future hair).  at this point i think she's going to have really straight hair like me.  but because there are some pieces that curl up after bath trey thinks it will be curly.  too soon to know!  but she sure has been busy growing some!  it has grown quite a bit lately.

we are so thankful for mary hazel lucy!!
