hayes crawled tonight. 3/22/13. 8 months old (exactly one week shy of turning 9 months...yikes!!) she has been up rocking, scooting on her tummy, trying to stand, etc. but tonight while we were playing in her nursery after bath, she crawled across her room to get a toy. we played for a while after that and she didn't ever do it again, but i'm sure it won't be long before she uses it as her main mode of transportation! sarah kate was well into her 9th month when she crawled. so far, hayes is doing all the physical things just a few weeks earlier than her sis. i didn't have my phone up there to get a video, but i'll catch her soon!
some pics....
last thursday sk completed her last art class for the winter semester. we are signing her up to go back for the spring semester (if it's not already full!)
| her green bumble bee |
her peacock is being wrapped on a canvas so we haven't picked it up yet, but she has been working on it for a long time...
our good friend's little girl, ames, turned one on the 12th and i went to her first birthday party solo last saturday. both of my girls were sick. SO ready for spring weather (i type that while i sit by our roaring fire....ridiculous). i was so sad that my girls weren't able to go to the party!
i can't believe a year has past since ames was born. seems like yesterday i was writing about that HERE.
speaking of birthdays, this cat turned 10 on march 3rd and i totally forgot to even tell her happy birthday. so happy 10th bday bella breath. how long do cats live again?
| here is bella being naughty. another favorite as of late is attacking my feet as i walk by her. she draws blood! i love her but i don't like her at all. overall, she is not a very good cat. |
when sarah kate was a baby she used to just kind of hang in this thing. not haysie! she has a big ole party in her jumper! she bounces all around and squeals and goes nuts. she's busy!
here is a pic of sweet sk hanging in her jumper...
tomorrow is water missions international's walk for water downtown charleston. we participated TWO YEARS AGO. but if it is rainy then we are not going to go. it is definitely going to be cold and i'm not about ready to let my "finally feeling well" children walk (ride) outside in the chilly rain. we'll see! we are registered to walk so we've made our contribution but it is a really fun thing to participate in. we are part of our church / sk's school's team. she gets it this year. 2 years ago she didn't know what was going on but now she knows that there are people in some parts of the world who have to walk a long way with buckets to collect dirty water to meet their needs which actually makes them sick. she collected money in her little water bottle to send in and she understands that it really doesn't take much $ to provide clean water. it would be nice for her to experience the walk this year, but if we aren't able to go then we'll try again next year. it has been the coldest march!!! again, where are you spring weather??
sarah kate completed a week of swim lessons today. she did great! we still have some work to do, but she's learning. she's quite fearless and was willing to do whatever the teacher asked of her. so surprising considering how cautious she is and how nervous she gets when she's not in control of her body. on the way to school the other day she started talking about our trip to blowing rock and she said, "and we went ice skating, you remember that? it was so fun!" and i laughed and said, "you did not think it was fun at all! you hated it. maybe next year you'll like it." and she said, "when i'm 4? no, i am not going to like it. i really don't like to fall down." and we still don't use the pedals on the trike because, "i like my feet to be on the ground." but swimming apparently doesn't make her feel like she has lost control of her body so that's great!
i have a video and some pics but i haven't downloaded them off my phone yet. and i'm too tired to do it now. another time.
=)
