water water everywhere.

the title of one of sarah kate's bathtime books. too bad it's not really the case....there is not water everywhere - or at least there is not easy access to clean, safe water - and in some parts of the world, women & children walk 4 miles or more to fill buckets with dirty water to carry back to their 'home.' in order to raise money to support water-missions international we participated in charleston's walk for water. our church had a big team, in fact our team was the largest. i don't know the actual headcount of all the walkers who participated but there were tons of people there. we started at cannon park, walked about 2 miles to the battery where we visited the filling stations to collect water in our buckets, and then walked back to cannon park. sarah kate and i stroll 3 miles or more on a daily basis (or we try to!) and it's not all that far for exercise purposes, but it IS all that far just to get (dirty) water, plus that bucket got heavy! i'll just post a few facts about the water crisis and then a few pics of our day. i'm really thankful for our clean, running water. everyone should have easy access to clean water water everywhere!

speaking of water water everywhere, on friday sarah kate and i were going to go to the beach & play for a while. but after we returned from gymnastics i felt like she was already tired so we decided to set up our water toys in the backyard instead. aren't we lucky to have clean water to just have fun in! i set up her water table & baby pool-ring. she had a blast splashing her water everywhere!
