a ten yr. reunion and father's day 2011.

although it's a little hard to believe, it has been 10 years since "we" graduated from college. and actually some of us went a little longer, but the majority of my girlfriends did graduate in the spring of 2001 (not me....i was on the 5 year plan). but we all started in the fall of '97 and we all were "pledge sisters" together at aopi. anyway, we decided to do a big girl's trip to celebrate and decided that there was no better spot than our old college "stomping grounds!" maybe not the best timing since the majority of us are mommies and we planned the weekend for father's day weekend, but that just meant that the daddies got to spend the whole weekend with the little ones which is what father's day is all about! so off to athens we went!!=)

what a blast we all had! we had a great crew....most everyone was able to come. our farthest traveler came all the way from new port beach, california. we had one fly in from new jersey. lots from atlanta of course. 2 from charleston (so glad to have company in the car!). 1 from birmingham and 1 from macon. some had to miss out but i imagine that we will rarely ever again be able to plan a weekend when every single person can make it and considering that fact, we did good! our weekend included yummy dinners, lots of dancing, lunch at our sorority house where we ALL lived 12 years ago (seriously?) and just lots of fun enjoying the fabulous classic city! we had a fun time and laughed ALOT.....we really enjoyed being together and being goofy. we're going to try to do it again next year at the beach. can't believe we found a weekend when nobody was expecting;) actually, we did have one pregnant girl in the group but she lives in athens and was able to do everything with us (PLUS she graciously offered up her house to sooo many of the girls who came.....7 of us got a hotel room to spare her tooo much chaos!) i'll post some pics of our weekend below.

meanwhile, back at home, trey and sarah kate had the best weekend together! i left during her afternoon nap on friday. friday afternoon they did a little shopping, picked out the playset that she's getting for her 2 year bday, and ate dinner at home. saturday morning they went to the water park. they met up with sk's bestie, alden, and amy & kyle. i hadn't taken her to the water park yet but i can't wait to go because trey said that it was awesome and that sk had a blast! it's a small water park that is inside one of our county parks here in mt. pleasant and trey said that it was definitely catered to toddlers so it was perfect (or at least there is a toddler area that is really nice). saturday after nap they went out to run some errands and then they ate dinner back at home. on sunday trey got dressed for church but then decided that he wanted to do something that they could do together so they got dressed for the pool and went swimming. after the swim he took her out to sullivan's to our favorite bbq spot for lunch. i got home around 2:00 while she was napping. i was soooo happy to see her....i would love to say that she was happy to see me too, but she actually asked for her daddy when i went in to get her! i guess i'm chopped liver now;)

i enjoyed my weekend so much and it sounds like trey and sk really enjoyed their weekend too! we were going to go on a father's day boat ride after nap but the weather said afternoon thunderstorms were going to roll in quickly. as it turns out there was never even a cloud in the sky, but we grilled burgers and just hung out here at home which was fun. i'm so proud of trey for being such a wonderful father.....so loving, fun and completely involved & capable! he was really looking forward to having her all to himself for a whole weekend and that's just so sweet;) i'm also really lucky to have the dad that i got! he is so generous, kind and loving! i know that trey misses his dad and would give anything to have him meet his girl! trey, sk and i are so super grateful to have "dougie", trey's stepfather, in our lives. he is a wonderful dad and grandfather. happy father's day to all of you!

after dinner friday night (at east west.....we spent alot of time at east west when we were in college only we weren't exactly there for dinner back then;) ) it is quite hilarious how fast old sorority girls can get themselves lined up on a staircase....i wouldn't normally be up front but i was in the ladies room and got out just in time to get myself in position. randomly, there was an older aopi in east west who was of course more than willing to snap pics!

after dinner saturday night at last resort (which i used to think dinner at last resort in college was SO expensive...haha! athens is so cheap!) :)

below: after lunch at the house on saturday. the upcoming sophomore girls were in there painting their rooms and getting ready for life in the sorority house next year. i am NOT old, but boy did seeing them and telling them who we were ("yeah, we are alumni and lived here 12 years ago") DID kinda make me feel old. wouldn't go back to "then" for all the money in the world! going back to "then" for a weekend here and there is perfect.

below: the 5 of us lived together for our junior and senior years in the apartment behind us! we loved our nasty welch place apartment. LOTS of fun went on there and tons & tons of memories were made! what a nostalgic feeling to go back....

in the pic below we are on the staircase at the house. ummm....this blog is going to be published and given to sarah kate to have and read when she's older and if she wants to join a sorority then we will certainly support her and be so happy for her.....if it weren't for aopi then i wouldn't have these wonderful people in my life....we are all still friends and enjoy getting together SO much. that being said....we are completely being FUNNY in these pics....not serious. we love each other but we aren't all about having been in a sorority. i would say that most of us who went on this trip (i mean we had 40 pledge sisters....there were NOT 40 girls on this trip) by senior year rarely even made it to chapter meetings. but hey, we were together...just not where we were supposed to be! slackers. sarah kate...i'm so sure that you'll never be a slacker...;););)

how could i go up to the new member room and not hug a panda?? our mascot. ;) i have had some friends dare me to put this as my profile pic on facebook. um....no. thanks.

lauren and i visited our old room where we lived sophomore year! i have a pic of us standing in front of our closet there in 1998. i need to scan it into the computer! whoever is living in our room this coming year needs to get busy....it is NOT cute! we had our room fixed up all cute=)

our friends ansley and ben welcomed little Landon to the world on march 19th. ben and landon came to athens for the weekend and stayed at a friend's house. not only so ansley could nurse landon for some of his feedings but also because ansley is so completely in love with her little 13 week old that she didn't want to be away from him for a whole weekend. seeing her with him is the sweetest thing ever!!! i'm so glad landon crashed our girl's trip from time to time because i miss out on seeing alot of my friend's newborns since trey and i don't live in atlanta anymore. this is courtney (our now california girl) talking up a storm with mr. cutie pie:

haha...i don't think lauren or katie even know i have a blog...i'm sure i'd get an email asking me to take down the pic below! during rush the staircase is filled with girls and we have to be all girly and it's just the worst feeling in the world....we always tried to hide in the back and as seniors we got to be up here where they are at the top of the staircase so we rarely had to "pick up a girl." we thought about breaking into song but decided against it...it's just too painful...heehee!

the rest of the pics below are just of us out on the town reliving our glory days! what a fun trip with such fun & wonderful friends! i miss these girls so much and am so glad that we can meet up from time to time and pick up right where we left off. thanks aopi for bringing us together!

lauren and "kriner." we lived together for 3 years in college, 2 years in charleston after college and now we both are back in charleston for the duration. she's sk's "aunt lauren" and we just love her=)

at the 9d's bar....this was so fun and perfect for us because they only played music from the 90's so we had a blast breaking it down to our favorite songs from college.

goofy=)

kierkla's here!! our now new jersey friend flew in friday night leaving her hubby home with her sweet little 8 month old, emma. so glad she came!
