a scary halloween story: picture it. the lucy house, halloween 2011, 1:45. sarah kate gets in her crib for her afternoon "nap" that no longer guarantees sleep. now, i know from lots of experience that if she falls asleep too late (3 or later) then she is a complete nightmare when she wakes. funny enough her doctor confirmed today that this is not uncommon.....late wake-ups = unhappy kids in many cases. when the clock turned 3:00 and she was still talking away i knew i needed to go get her in order to have a happy trick-or-treater. just as i was about to go upstairs, i glanced at the monitor and she was sound asleep. uh-oh.
fast forward to 4:45. our neighborhood party was starting around 5:00 and sk's bff alden was on her way over to join sk for all the fun. and sk wakes up in the worst mood of her life. "no trick -or - treat!!! no party!! no costume! i NOT!! i NOT!!!" (all that being said over and over plus alot of crying and screaming and everything else). very scary. to cancel halloween plans or keep them? to give sarah kate away or keep her? scary.
hmmmmmm.....after a quick chat with alden's mom we decided for them to come on over anyway. we didn't have anything to loose. either she would see alden the peacock and get herself together and we'd have a great time or else the peacock and her parents would just go celebrate halloween while we stayed home with grumpy pants.
just before peacock arrived our doorbell rang. there stood our sweet next door neighbor who had a little gift for sk's halloween - so sweet! princess gloves and a little monster light. but the important thing about the gift was what was tied to it. a fancy little lollipop. i quickly unwrapped the lollipop and handed it to sk who threw on the biggest smile and then in walks the peacock who sk can't get to fast enough to smile and giggle with.....the heavens opened and the angles sang....you get the drift. ahhhhhh "miss" lea. "miss" lea will forever be known as the neighbor who saved halloween. with a lollipop.
sk was abby cadabby which trey and i were so excited about. we love princess belle of course but since she dresses up as belle every single day of her life, we wanted her to be something different for halloween. she had a blast at the party and then trick or treating. she is a big fan of the treats.

below are a few extra pics to share. ***also, i took sk to the dr. today for a lingering dry hacking cough that she's had for weeks. it happens mainly when she's laying flat so she hasn't been getting great sleep at night for a while. we all know she rarely gets sleep during the day so she really has been grumpy for the past couple of weeks. anyway, turns out it's allergies. dr. said she is definitely suffering from a seasonal allergy. lots of drainage in her throat and she could really see it under her eyes, too. (ears looked great). so she's going to be taking a strong dose of zyrtec for a month. i hope so much that it cures
her cough so that she can get some good sleep!***
she fell down and busted her lip really good on saturday.
happy halloween! and it honestly was. whew.
That sounds very much like our Halloween. Andy came home and saved the day by forcing Foard to take a nap. I'm glad you decided not to give her away!;)
