happy, healthy spring break? not so much.

basically, sweet sarah kate has been sick.as.a.dog. she has some nasty virus and a possible ear infection. we are down at my parent's house this week - supposed to be heading over to the beach house today, but not going to make it....maybe tomorrow?? we'll see. her stay here since sunday morning has included the following: high fevers (the highest reaching 105.5), trip to urgent care in camden, late night trip to ER in camden, green nasty nose, possible ear infection, antibiotics, lots of ibuprofen and some tylenol thrown in there at times, lots of rocking and holding and loving and tv watching.

she has truthfully been such a trooper. has tried so hard to have fun even though she feels like complete crap. she has watched "papa's cows" (baby mcdonald video) more times than you would even think was humanly possible in 4 days. she now knows every single farm animal that ever lived and all about the food, hay, barn, plants, fields, tractors etc. not to mention she can sing old mcdonald rather well. it's so funny to watch her watch it.....think she has it memorized and everything belongs to papa..."papa's tractor" "papa's fields" "papa's cows." we are trying to discourage her from saying "papa's sheep" because he is seriously considering getting some sheep and i just think that it may throw mimi over the edge if he does. i think we have enough animals down here to care for;)

she goes through periods of times when she just wants to get up and sing and dance....so we do.she also goes through times when she just wants to be rocked.....so we do. what she has lost all interest in and what we are most concerned about at this point is: drinking!! she still wants to drink her milk which is our saving grace. she doesn't want any water, apple sauce, pedialyte, popsicles or anything at all to eat at this point. we need to get her hydrated somehow....she's sleeping right now. the good news is.....trey drove in last night and is here with us, AND her fever wasn't even up to 102 this morning!! plus, it was down to 100.9 before we put her down for a nap! YAY! seeing that thermometer START at 103 is a bit nerve racking and as it climbs i'm just yelling at it to STOP PLEASE! i feel like the worst is behind us and now we need to focus on hydration. my parents have been a load of help. thank goodness our mimi is so available! she has been great. she has been so worried about these high fevers, but every dr. we talk to (including my peds office in chas.) has assured us that the fever is normal for a nasty virus and that the fever is not our enemy so we are just trying to trust in that. what a mess. i know that there are children out there suffering so much more than sk and i'm very sorry for those kids and their parents. just ready for my girl to feel good again....she was SO healthy on saturday and this just came on so suddenly. we are very sleep deprived. i'm feeling a little achy but i'm hoping some rest will help.....maybe i'm just run-down. i'm just coming off of a z-pack so surely that will help save me from this.

all easter and beach plans are in "play it by ear mode" at the moment, but i'm so hoping we can get her well enough for an egg hunt and play time with ava and bryce. she is talking about them constantly.

please pray for her to drink some water. she drank almost a whole cup this morning as soon as she woke up, but won't even think about having anymore. diapers continue to be a little wet. she now has diarrhea from the ibuprofen being given on an empty stomach. this does not help with our hydration issue and i sure as heck don't want to go back to the ER (they were great with sk, but i just don't want to go back.) pray for her fever to stay down at a reasonable level....i do know that some fever is good because her body is fighting, but 105.5 is a little excessive there sk.

so that's what's up with us. i was afraid of this happening since she has been so well for so long.....just thought we'd have a run-of-the-mill cold.....not so much.
