wolfson.

well, sarah kate continued to refuse all food and drink yesterday afternoon except for milk. she became a little lethargic and just wanted to be held. her fever climbed back up to 104.6. so we made the decision to take her on to jacksonville to wolfson children's hospital. my mom, trey and i took her down. i'm so sorry that she is going through this! but wow, what a great ER experience - they only see children and so i felt like sk was in the best hands. she was called back very quickly. we were in our triage for quite a long time - around 5 hours i guess - and it took a while for her to be seen by a doctor. it was so sad seeing all those sick children coming and going. the peds dr. who saw her said that her ears were definitely inflamed and that the antibiotic she was on probably wasn't strong enough to fight the infection. they drew blood and started fluids....not fun at all, but sk was a champ. they were checking her blood for her white blood cell count which came back to be normal. i was so glad that they started fluids.....she wasn't terribly dehydrated but she was a little dehydrated and still refusing to drink water. after the fluids were through they gave her a high powered antibiotic in her i.v. and they prescribed her a new antibiotic that we're hoping will work for her. while we were in the hospital her temp climbed back up to 104.6. she threw up the first dose of ibuprofen that our nurse gave her, but was able to take another dose. before we left they gave her a dose of tylenol too since the ibuprofen only brought her down to 101.5. so then we came back to mimi's. i was so glad trey decided to just stay here with us instead of going back to chas. he was the parent who wanted to take her down to jax and i'm glad he made that decision. i feel alot better about it now.

oh, and i was so glad to know that milk can in fact keep you hydrated.....we were wondering about that because it's all she wants to drink. the dr. said that it does. that's good to know. if sk ever refuses milk then we'll know something is majorly wrong! she has never even just grazed on milk nor has she had it as a drink with her meals....she just chugs it till it's gone! she gets 3 cups a day usually but now we are giving it to her whenever she wants it.

i thought i'd post a pic of our little doodle this morning.....

here she is watching the "papa's cows" video.

a little more modest: =)
