shirley temple and daddy/daughter

just so ya know.....what i plan to do is have my blog published at the end of the year so i can have a hard-copy to put in sk's baby book. so if my excessive posting is annoying then feel free to tune out "keeping up with the lucys" at any time! i just want to document some things and it's nice that the pics come out so well in the hard-copies now. i LOVED reading my baby book growing up....my mom thinks she was slack b/c i was the second baby, but actually she did a pretty good job aside from the fact that it's a little banged up from the time she drove off with my babybook on top of her car (& the apple doesn't fall far....sorry sk). i want sk to know all the important things like her first steps and such, but i also want her to know the silly, everyday stuff too! which brings me to today's post.

so today i had my court date regarding the wreck that sk and i were involved in. if you don't know what i'm talking about then you can read about it here. anyway, i just had to go and tell the judge what happened. i had originally thought the court time was at 10:30. sk had school today so i was going to get one of my friends to pick her up. however, when trey and i rechecked the time we realized it was at 2:30 and my friend was not available to keep sk and neither was trey. sooooo.....sk joined me in court. maybe it will be her one and only court appearance (and maybe mine, too!!) i put her in the umbrella stroller and packed the basket under the stroller with books, toys, and SNACKS. well, guess who could NOT STOP TALKING in court. before the judge came in a police officer spoke to everyone in the room (which was just the motorcycle driver from my case, another family with 2 small kids who were waiting for an unrelated case, sarah kate and myself.) he said that this particular judge does NOT like children talking in his courtroom. he said that if our kids got too loud then we may be asked to leave. he said that all cases are recorded and that loud children hinder the clarity. all the while, sarah kate is talking and laughing so loud..."mama, mama, mama, hahahahaha, mama, cracker pease, mama, cracker pease, daddy's car, GO." so of course, i got a little nervous. when i tried to show her how one whispers she died laughing and started making some kind of strange hoarse/growling noise as she tried to copy me. i thought we were doomed.

finally (15 minutes later than scheduled....and i got there 15 minutes early so we were going on 30 minutes of sitting in the stroller and we were running low on snacks) they called us to the stand. i noticed right off the bat that while motorcycle man was talking that the judge was waving at sarah kate. so i thought...well, he must not be THAT against kiddos. i shoved a squeezable fruit sauce pack in sk's mouth which she can actually finish in about 30 seconds, but hey, that was 30 seconds of quiet. anyway, he asked me to tell what happened. i said, "so, i was traveling east on I526 when all of a sudden...." then he interrupted me and said, "you and shirley temple there?" haha...that made me laugh (on the inside).....so i finished the story which was basically not anything since i didn't even see what happened. i don't even know why i had to be there, but i can tell you one thing....if i ever have to go back i will not be taking shirley temple with me. she doesn't know what 'whisper' means yet. after my recount of the accident, i had to take her out of the stroller and try to get her quiet while motorcycle man finished. but she kept rubbing my face and laughing and saying, "MAMA, MAMA, RIDE DADDY'S CAR!!" we are driving trey's car while mine is being fixed right now and she can't seem to get over it. by the way, motorcycle man's insurance accepted full responsibility for damages and so that is good. they also provided us with a loaner which trey is driving. blah, blah, blah....anyway, i want sk to know all about her big day in court!! i think the judge must have liked my loud child!

since we didn't get home until 3:30, a nap was not in sk's future. maybe they fed those kids a bunch of sugar at school because she was already hyper but then skipping nap makes her delirious. i was so excited when trey got home from work so that he could just play with her and let me try to relax for a minute. and play they did.....i took some pics of their sweet daddy/daughter moments=)

i kinda wanted to take a pic with her, but she wanted to do this;)

what a day! so glad tomorrow is FRIDAY! we'll go to gymnastics in the morning then we'll go see our pediatrician for an ear check and then we'll be home in plenty of time for our NAP! tomorrow night we have a sitter and trey and i are going to dinner. we have a beautiful weekend forecast and i foresee a hot date between my beach chair and myself on saturday.

i hope that from saturday through the few days after that my phone is buzzing non-stop with picture messages from my nieces at DISNEY hanging with their favorite princesses! they are turning four on the 2nd. can't.even.believe.it. have fun at disney a&b....and don't you worry...."fishy" and "purple gray" are in excellent hands;)
